About me and my therapy practice
If you're here looking for help then chances are your previous ways of coping aren't working as well as they use to. Whether that was simply avoiding the difficulty or trying to distract yourself from it, it's not going away anymore. This could have been with you for some time and reared itself during the pandemic when the thing you used to cope was taken away from you. Maybe it was alcohol, drugs, food or sex. I'd like to offer you psychotherapy as a way to transform your situation. I have over 8 years experience in private practice, as well as experience working at Samaritans and counselling service in Surrey.
I offer both short term (usually 12-16 sessions) and long term work. The longer term being on an open ended basis where we can review the work together, deciding on an ending when appropriate. Short term work is usually more concentrated; think gaining clarity on something specific.
I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, so I'm keenly interested in your childhood, your relationship with your caregivers, unconscious processes and patterns in your relationships.
My first session
The first session is more a consultation, gaining more information about the current problem and whether I think therapy can help. The session is also for us both to see whether we can work together to help bring about the change needed.
