About me and my therapy practice
I am know as Jules. I work with Children and Young People from the ages of 5 years - 26 years old. I obtained a Masters in Counselling Children and Young People at Nottingham University where I qualified in a Person Centred Experiential way.
Children and Young people do not have the words to express what they are experiencing emotionally and some adults and parents struggle with this. Children and Young People are not always able to communicate with the people who are closest to them and this is where I can be a safe person that they can learn to trust and start to experience a therapeutic relationship with.
I am well know for working creatively with children and young people to allow them to tell me their story by using media such as sand-tray, play therapy, the use of lyrics in music, games, art work, painting and much more creative media.
I do not sit opposite a child or young person directly as i feel this isolates them with shame. A lot of young people struggle with understanding their brain formation and confusing thoughts and getting them to understand what is going on for them makes them realise that they are not the only people going through this. Eye contact can be difficult so I like to sit along side them. I am also a qualified EFT practitioner
My rooms are set on a farm in a tranquil field in Worcestershire. There are two therapeutic cats that can join the sessions as long as the children and carers are happy with this. They can see the crops in the field grow as they see themselves grow, and the area is a peaceful tranquil space. Please feel free to call me for a chat to talk through your concerns about your child or if you are a young person yourself. When working with children I like to initially meet the parents for an assessment . I give the parents/carers a chance to meet me and to have a look around my therapy rooms before they commit to their child starting counselling.
