Due to current circumstances, I've moved my practice to online and telephone only. The same counselling principles apply to online and telephone, as they do in face-to-face counselling.
About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling sad, low in mood, anxious or stressed? Have events in your life caused you to feel this way? Are you experiencing some difficulties in your relationships that you need help with? Have you experienced a bereavement that you are struggling to cope with?
Counselling can help you to make sense of what you are experiencing, which will allow you to make changes in your life.
I can help you to do this by providing a safe, confidential space where you will feel heard, listened to and understood. Where you are met with compassion, acceptance, and without judgement, as I help you explore the difficulties you are facing, so that life can begin to feel easier.
As a counsellor, I am person centred in my approach, and I will draw on other models of therapy which I feel may be of benefit to you. I have also completed further specialised training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and bereavement and loss (Cert.Teesside Hospice & Teesside University).
I am a BACP Accredited, Person-Centred Counsellor with degree in Psychology (BSc) and Masters in Counselling Psychology (MSc) and I have over 15 years of counselling experience working in the area of mental health in the NHS and GP surgeries and more recently in private practice.
My first session
Taking the first steps in seeking support can seem daunting and can take a lot of courage. The first session is important, for making sure that you feel comfortable, so that you are able to start to tell me what is troubling you that you need help with, and where I can explain to you how I work and how I can be of help. It will be your opportunity to ask questions about me and the counselling I offer, and this will form the basis of our work together, if you decide to go ahead with therapy.
