About me and my therapy practice

I am a psychodynamic counsellor based in Leicester, having trained at the Leicester Centre for Psychodynamic Counselling and Goldsmiths, University of London. My training is psychodynamic, and as such I take a particular interest in a client’s internal world and how it came to be formed through early experiences and relationships.

I also offer outdoor therapy through a 'walk and talk' service, which focuses on how our connection to the natural world can help us understand ourselves, promoting mental and physical wellbeing.

I work with individuals of any gender, relationship or sexual identity and focus on the therapeutic relationship to provide change for clients, in a safe and non-judgmental environment.

Individual therapy takes place once a week and is usually open-ended, although I do also offer short-term focused work.

Appointments take place at the same time and on the same day each week and are 50 minutes long. I offer sessions Monday to Friday. To book an assessment, please email me at thomasin@makepeacehouse.com.

Practice description

My psychotherapy service has emerged partly as a response to the current mental health crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I offer online counselling, face-to-face therapy and a walk and talk service for people who would like to access their therapy outdoors, in nature. I am based in Leicestershire.

There is currently an explosion in demand for mental health services, as the impact of the coronavirus pandemic makes itself known. Many of us are experiencing bereavement, poor health, redundancy, relationship issues, isolation - to name but a few consequences of this crisis. Our traditional coping mechanisms aren’t quite cutting the mustard.

Yet the pandemic has also put unprecedented constraints on our ability to access quality psychotherapy, with many counselling centres being forced to close or go online-only.

If you feel you have been affected by the pandemic, I offer flexible options to allow you to speak to someone, whether at my practice, through my ‘walk and talk’ service, or online.

Whatever it is you are struggling with, get in touch today. It's never been more important to talk to someone. You can email me at thomasin@makepeacehouse.com or call me on 07713195280.

My first session

Considering psychotherapy, but unsure what kind of therapist is right for you? I offer an initial assessment meeting to talk through your concerns and goals for therapy. The assessment allows both therapist and client to establish whether we can work together effectively, or whether a different therapist or style of counselling might be more suitable.

Assessment appointments last 50 minutes and cost £25.

Why seek counselling?

Life is complicated. At times, everything is relatively plain-sailing. The waters are calm. We feel the sun on our face. We are at peace. Yet this isn’t always the case, and for many of us, life can be painful, isolating and frightening. That wide-open sea is suddenly a vast, overwhelming expanse, with you alone in the middle of it, totally exposed and vulnerable to what the elements have in store for you. You feel trapped, stuck, afraid and like you have no control over what happens next.

Or maybe you’re just bored of your old life at sea.

Psychotherapy can help with this. I offer clients a safe, welcoming, confidential space where they can be free of judgement. Together, we will explore your experiences, supporting you as you gain insight into your pain and discomfort. By working through past experiences, they can be left behind, so that clients discover their true selves and feel accepted and listened to.
