About me and my therapy practice

I am a counsellor who supports adults who are feeling anxious and overwhelmed. I specialise in working with professionals who are concerned that they are heading towards burnout or have been diagnosed with work related stress. I have experience working with NHS staff, Teachers, Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Student Counsellors, Carers as well as other professionals.

I work in a trauma informed way, which means that I note for signs & symptoms of trauma and take care to work with you safely, respectfully with care. This may mean showing techniques that help with emotional regulation and feeling safe.

Burnout is something that builds over time as a result of prolonged stress. It can leave us feeling overwhelmed, drained and unable to cope. It can create feelings of irritation, feeling separate from others rather than connected, loss of sense of enjoyment and a struggle to connect with your sense of purpose.

Perhaps you are currently finding it difficult to be honest about how overwhelmed you are at the moment. You may be struggling to recognise yourself, perhaps wondering if you are being lazy if you are used to being highly productive and taking the usual days off to recuperate just isn't helping.

You may be finding it difficult to focus and concentrate. Perhaps you are worried about the fact that you want to avoid work when previously it was something you loved.

Support is available here now. Coming to counselling, particularly for the first time can feel like a big step. It is my aim to make your time with me as simple and comfortable as possible. You need not feel alone, help is available now.

I offer counselling for connection and support, as well as education about mental health. If it is helpful, we can build a toolkit of techniques to support your sense of resilience and calm. I have session availability and you can contact me now.

Practice description

Counselling is found to be especially helpful if you are feeling lost, that life has become too much and want to improve your wellbeing and support your mental health.

Counselling also provides a safe place to review, at a time of change.

You may have other support such as your GP,  prescription medication or a mental health worker. I offer support alongside these recognized action plans, in order to further promote your wellbeing.

My first session

In our first session, there will be some paperwork to complete. I will explain what a confidential service is. I am interested to hear what you would like to gain from my service.

I often use a tool called a mood check and this helps me understand how you are feeling on a day to day basis mood wise. The session lasts for 50 minutes. If you decide that you are comfortable working with me, you are welcome to return.

Further sessions are booked according to your need, rather than a fixed or assumed arrangement.
