About me and my therapy practice
Struggling?
Sometimes it’s hard to find our place in the world and we feel broken, lost or alone.
These feelings often lie at the root of anxiety, depression, addiction, shame, and other issues.
The antidote is connection.
Hi, I’m Steve.
I’m a fully qualified and MBACP registered integrative counsellor. I have practised as a counsellor for over 10 years, with over 30 years working in health and social care. I have worked as clinical manager in a well known therapy service and for a residential addiction treatment programme, both in London.
I offer sessions online and in person in East Central London and Hackney Wick, with both daytime and evening availability.
I have worked therapeutically with individuals and groups who are struggling with anger, shame, addiction, depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, relationship problems and other issues in a variety of settings in both the voluntary and private sector.
Practice description
What is integrative counselling?
Integrative counselling means that I work flexibly and use a range of different therapeutic techniques depending on what is most helpful for you.
My training is in counselling and psychology, and my approaches include person-centred, psychodynamic, attachment-focused, inner child work, narrative therapy, and REBT. My work is influenced by psychoanalysis and existential philosophy.
How does my approach help you?
My main approach to therapy is relational and attachment based. This is because we learn about who we are in relationships, and when we struggle in our relationships, it can impact everything else in our lives.
We can feel unsure of ourselves, where we fit in or what our purpose is. I believe these issues often stem from our childhood relationships and the environment we emotionally adapted to growing up.
Through exploring this in therapy, in a calm and supportive space, we can regain a secure sense of ourselves, our relationships and belonging in our lives.
Together, we can learn how to heal our past and embrace our present.
My first session
I charge on a sliding scale of £70 - £100 per session depending on your income. I can work with you on a short term or long term basis.
