About me and my therapy practice

Hello and Welcome,

Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. We face uncertainty, our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. For others, we can find ourselves repeating the same unhelpful patterns both in our relationship with others and with ourselves. As a result of all this, we now question the lives that we live. If you’re reading this then perhaps it’s time to work through these things.

We sometimes need help beyond our immediate circle of friends, someone who is not only a good listener, but a highly qualified, skilled and experienced practitioner. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Masters degree and qualified in EMDR; I’ve seen thousands of people come through my door and undergo transformation, healing and leave with hope for their future.

I am deeply committed to your healing, well-being and the development of you as a whole person: body, mind and spirit. I’m an Integrative Psychotherapist, which broadly means that I’m trained in lots of different approaches and modalities. I can also use a combination of art, music, drama in our therapy as well as meditation techniques. I offer counselling for adults & adolescents, I also offer therapy from a Christian perspective.

Before becoming a psychotherapist / counsellor, I spent 12 years working as a family minister in various churches in the UK and in America. I have also worked as a counsellor and chaplain in a young offenders institute.

Practice description

As a therapist I have counselled thousands of people with all kinds of presenting problems from various backgrounds. I lead workshops and training events across London. I consult and clinically supervise staff from a variety of frontline agencies, as well as supervising a large number of other therapists. Furthermore, I provide therapeutic support for the Police, the Intelligence services and those within the music industry.

I have an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy, BA(Hons) Counselling, PG-Dip Clinical Supervision and am EMDR qualified, I am BACP(Senior Accredited) as well as NCS(Senior Accredited). I have over 20,000 clinical hours of experience and over 3000 hours delivering clinical supervision.

I offer a space that is non-threatening and non-judgmental where a new expression of who you truly are can begin to immerge, it is a space to re-imagine your life and future; a way to examine and work through issues you may have so that genuine healing and change can occur.

I charge £80 per hour (£70 for students or for those on low income)

If you would like me to work with you then please phone me on: 07939 985158 or email me at lee@recoveringmind.co.uk

Supervision can look like lots of things. For therapists, clinical supervision should be a safe, vibrant and dynamic environment, a place of sharing, reflexivity and learning. I like conducting supervision where we explore different therapeutic approaches and gaining new psychological perspectives. I can work with your placement and training institution as well as give guidance in terms of your academic work. My clinical supervisees range from students to very senior therapists and supervisors. We can meet for 1½ hours a month or 1 hour bi-weekly session depending on your need. Frontline Worker Supervision (Providing support for Frontline workers)

For frontline workers, supervision can indeed be a place where they learn new techniques or more effective ways of working with their service users, but it’s also a place where I seek to help them to unburden themselves from the difficult and draining stories that they often hear and experience. It’s also important to offer frontline workers a space to talk about and explore the struggles in their personal and work life that has impacted them. Having this confidential space can increase overall resilience and mental health. It’s considered good practice for any front-line agency or school dealing with complex issues within their service users, to have monthly supervision for their staff to avoid burnout.
