About me and my therapy practice
Asking for help can feel daunting, so it's important to find a counsellor you feel comfortable with and understands your feelings. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is paramount so together we might explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, where you feel heard, safe and comfortable in our sessions.
I am a Humanistic Existential Counsellor, however, everyone is unique so I adapt my approach to your needs, together we can explore what works best for you to help with feelings of Anxiety, Depression, Low Self Esteem and Family Concerns.
Everyone is unique and I therefore adapt my approach according to your needs and what works best for you.
I offer a warm, caring, safe and confidential place for in person sessions in CF11/Cardiff on Mondays and CF64/Penarth on Tuesdays. Where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of being judged, putting you front and centre of our work together. I will not lead or advise you but encourage you to explore your lived experiences and emotions to help you find a better way forward.
I have worked with clients experiencing issues encountered by carers, those caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, physical disabilities, etc. and have worked in an agency with clients experiencing a variety of concerns including - depression, loss, bereavement, lack of motivation, relationship, and work-related issues.
Practice description
I am happy to offer a brief free informal telephone chat Ie. 15minutes, with you to answer any questions you may have and to help you decide whether you feel I may be the right counsellor for you. You are under no obligation to continue working with me but if you feel I am the right person, we can discuss a regular session time.
If agreed, sessions would last 50 minutes and could be weekly or fortnightly.. You are free to choose how long you come to counselling, some people find the support they need in a few sessions and other people like to come for longer. Short term work can help with a specific issue or simply offer some support in a time of crisis. Longer term work can lead to more profound changes.
My first session
Generally, we will have chatted on the telephone before we meet face to face or online.
In the first session we will be talking through the personal contact form, confidentiality policy as well as your own goals and hopes for therapy. We will make a contract and working agreement for meeting times and expectations. We will start to explore what has brought you to counselling. There will be time to ask questions to ensure you fully understand what counselling offers and how it could be helpful to you.
Alternatively, if your first session is online we will have spoken on the telephone before our first session and arranged an initial online appointment. Prior to this session you will have received an initial details form, a contract and in a separate email a link to our first appointment via a Zoom link. In the first session we will talk through these forms and how we will manage online working, specifically we will look at what happens if we lose internet connection and keeping you safe online.
