Daytimes and early evenings (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) for individual and couples counselling - £20 first meeting where you're feeling financial stresses
About me and my therapy practice
I support individuals and couples.
I offer compassionate, non-judgemental, and confidential one-to-one Person-Centred Counselling on the beautiful Dartington Hall Estate.
I also use the Emotionally Focused Therapy approach (from Sue Johnson) to support us in deepening and ultimately creating more safety with your partner (couples therapy) or parts of yourself (one-to-one work).
As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I trust you to grow in your own way, creating lasting change and the life you want. You are the expert on your own experience, and the Person-Centred approach to counselling gives you the time and support you need to find your way forward.
Couples counselling with EFCT - repairing your bond
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy gives a safe map right into the heart of your issues, so you can slow down and unravel how you negatively see each other and then react.
The patterns of reaction you've developed have been needed for you to feel safe and whole, to live with the fears and longings that exist in you. And your partner’s strategies may clash with yours, making it feel like a battle between you.
What if both of your needs and ways of coping could be valued and supported, rather than them competing and ripping you apart? Might you feel hopeful again?
I love this work, and feel naturally able to empathise with the challenges that people bring, probably helped by some deep challenges I've faced in my own life. I listen carefully, including to the feelings and beliefs behind your words, and help you build clarity about your life.
Affordable support for as long as you want
I know how important it is to find the right counsellor, and I offer a discounted £20 first session for those experiencing financial stresses, to help with this. You're welcome to work with me on a short or long term basis, ending or pausing whenever you wish. one-to-one counselling is £40 per hour, couples £55.
The power of feeling genuinely accepted as you are
Whatever issues you bring, I'll be alongside you, listening without judgement, without giving advice, and will respond to you openly and honestly as a fellow human being searching for truth about life. We'll go at the pace you choose, allowing you the time to develop the trust (in me and in yourself) that you need to feel safe.
Feeling deeply accepted, just as you are, helps create a clearer connection with your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. This can result in long held beliefs coming to light, and therefore starting to change.
Whatever routes through life you wish to explore, and whichever you ultimately choose, I'll support you in finding and following your truth.
My first session
Before booking your first session, you are welcome to have a free 15 minute phone or online conversation with me, and ask any questions that would help you feel ready to make the next step.
In the first session, I'll explain about confidentiality and other things that help you settle and feel safe to really begin. We start exploring what it’s like to be you, and the life situation you face at the moment.
As you feel heard and understood, over future session, trust can build, and we can gradually deepen into the beliefs you hold about life and yourself, the meanings attached to your situation and how others respond to you. Gradually your core fears and longings emerge and we carefully find our way with them.
