Sheffield S10
Sessions from £45.00

  • Wheelchair accessible office

I work  in The Practice Rooms, Sheffield and I also work online with clients.

About me and my therapy practice

I hope to create a safe space in which you can speak openly with all your thoughts and feelings being contained.

Psychodynamic counselling explores how our childhood and early relationships leave an imprint on us in the present.

I work with you to explore what it is going on both in the present and what occurred in your past; Working together to better understand your past in the present.

Psychodynamic counselling is not advice giving or solution focused. We will work with whatever is coming up for you in the session. My role is to be actively listening, noticing and asking the right questions to unlock your conscious and unconscious ways of thinking, patterns of being and relating to others.

My approach is to support you unearth a better understanding of yourself and the dynamics around you; to better understand why you may feel the way you feel.

Practice description

I am BACP registered Psychodynamic Counsellor. I work out of an accessible space in Sheffield and I also offer online counselling.

I have worked with clients on various themes these have included, but are not extensively - anxiety, depression, family disputes, bereavement, life changing diagnosis, relationship issues and self esteem.

Sessions last 50 minutes and they are lead by you and what you want to talk about in that session.

Prior to my counselling training, I trained as an End of Life Doula. I use this combined knowledge and experience to go into homes and facilitate conversation. This may be in a variety of ways: it may be solely with the dying person who may be finding it difficult to express all of their feelings to their loved ones, or to help start conversations between the terminally ill and their loved ones. This service is bespoke and will adapt with your needs.

My first session

In the first session I will ask you more questions than a standard session. This is an assessment to find out what has brought you to counselling, details of your family and developmental history and your current situation such as relationships, work, interests.

The initial session being an assessment enables us to see if we are a good therapeutic fit. More than one assessment session may be required. There is a charge for initial sessions at the usual rate.
