About me and my therapy practice

Talking with someone about things which are private, upsetting or unformed may be a new experience, possibly difficult. Yet, talking through problems with someone is proven to help people understand and learn about themselves and their relationships, and this helps them feel better. Counselling offers a non-judgemental space for this kind of talking.

As a Christian pastor’s wife I have 40 years experience walking alongside people in their life changes and deep disappointments, loss, trauma and core issues of self-esteem, security and significance. Should someone also want to explore the spiritual aspects of the issues they are facing and how their belief/faith impacts those issues, I am open to help this exploration as well.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor and weave several therapeutic approaches so as to tailor the counselling to each person’s particular needs. I offer time limited as well as open-ended counselling for individual adults. My aim is to provide a safe, caring and confidential space for each person to explore the problems in their life and find positive ways forward.

In these times of Covid risk, I meet with people online using Zoom or FaceTime. Once the Covid vaccine has achieved a full roll out to the adult population I will begin to work face to face again with those who prefer it. I am equally happy to continue working online.

My first session

In the first session I want to learn what has brought them to counselling at this time and hear something of their life context for the issue(s) they face. I want to learn what their understanding of counselling is and their expectations for counselling. Lastly, I will explore how their mental health is. I will explain how I work and the BACP’s ethical framework which underpins this.
