About me and my therapy practice

My name is Ali Jones and I work as a psychotherapist and supervisor. I am a senior member of my profession holding multiple accreditations with different professional bodies, as both a supervisor and psychotherapist, including BABCP, BACP and UKCP

I work with adults and young people (teenagers onwards) and I provide supervision and consultative support to Psychological Therapists and other healthcare professionals. I provide face to face appointments in my office in Egerton (TN27) and offer on-line sessions using a number of different video platforms

I have over thirty years experience as a psychotherapist and have worked for over twenty three years within the NHS, with my final role as Principal Psychotherapist and Operational Lead within a Secondary Care Psychology team.

I have wide experience in all common mental health problems as well as serious mental illness including psychosis, BPAD and personality disorders. I have worked extensively with Trauma and neurodevelopmental disorders. I have a clinical interest in bringing physical and mental health interventions together, and in the role that exercise can help with mental health, healthspan and lifespan and have been involved in lots of research in this area.

I have had multiple trainings over a long career and these include Psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, Schema Focused therapy, ACT and of course CBT. My way of working is largely integrative and relational, developing a clear formulation of the problems and providing flexible and supportive interventions that are informed by psychologically well evidenced practice tailored to my client’s unique experiences and goals.

Practice description

I value supervision and have always aimed to foster a supervision culture within my workplace. My supervision style is collaborative, dynamic and creative. Over a long career I have supervised counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists of many differing orientations.

For many years I have supervised multi-disciplinary teams within the NHS and I established a supervision program for Psychiatrists which was effective and well received over many years. I have also supervised many non-psychological professions, bringing the benefits of reflective practice, self- care and improved wellbeing within the workplace.

Of course I have had multiple supervision trainings over the years including a Diploma in Supervision from The Minster Centre, IAPT supervision training, Exeter University's Supervision for SMI training etc.

I am a Senior Accredited Supervisor with BACP and an Accredited Supervisor with BABCP.

My first session

I think that the Supervisory relationship is the basis of good supervision and I am happy to have informal discussions to ensure that my skill set and orientation is a 'good match' prior to beginning any formal supervision contract.
