Availability

I currently have availability for supervision.

I am flexible in my hours. My main working days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On occasions, I may have availability on a Monday afternoon and a Friday morning.

I recognise that urgent crisis situations do not only happen between a Monday and a Friday within typical working hours and with this in mind, I will do my best to be flexible for supervision support over a weekend too, if necessary, and if I am not away.

I am next away from work from Friday 18th December 2026 and return to work on Wednesday 6th January 2027.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP accredited counsellor/psychotherapist. The BACP ethical framework underpins the entirety of my practice.

I offer both online and in person supervision from my home near Bracknell, Berkshire.

I completed my supervision training in 2006 and work as a consultative supervisor of counselling and psychotherapy with individuals and groups. Alongside this, I supervise other health care professionals in various healthcare settings, including, but not limited to, hospice speciality doctors, CNS nurses, managers of counselling services in both NHS and hospice services.

I have completed training, alongside many years of experience in many clinical presentations. My specialism is working with loss, bereavement, chronic illness, life-threatening, life -limiting illness, and End of Life.

I have extensive experience in the development and delivery of counselling and psychotherapy services as a CEO/Clinical Director for NHS Occupational Health, Police, Hospices and community.

My chosen way of working is integrative. I experience this way of working as a flexible framework that combines multiple approaches to support practitioners in their professional growth and clinical work.

My main goal is to offer a safe, reflexive, non-judgmental, client/supervisee centred environment for practitioners to discuss clinical challenges. My skills support practitioners to build in their self-confidence, self-awareness and ever developing competency.

I ensure ethical responsibility, safety and professional accountability is at the fore of the work undertaken.

Practice description

I have a strong belief in holistic wellbeing and work with the ‘whole person’ and not only the working practitioner in supervision.  I recognise and acknowledge that we are first and foremost human beings, and there are, and will always be, times when we undoubtedly will experience re-triggers of our own lived experiences through those we support. I emotionally support the practitioner when such events occur and support them to seek the most appropriate external support. I understand that this can take time to put in place and my support of the practitioner is vital, both for their own wellbeing and that of their client(s).

My intention is to provide a sense of safety in the working space and support the development of a solid, trusting consultative working relationship where practitioners feel they can bring celebrations of their practice, ethical dilemmas. complexities of practice, and also ‘mistakes of the heart,’ as I call them. We all make them occasionally and we can learn from them if we feel safe enough to be fully transparent.

I offer up to thirty minutes at no charge to discuss supervision requirements and some practicalities over the phone, by which time we will have gained some understanding of each other. After this, if we both feel happy we arrange our first meeting.

My first session

At our first meeting, I do not charge for the first 30 minutes which enables us both to discuss in more depth if we are happy to work together, or not, without involving a payable fee, this giving the opting out option without complication.

If we both agree to continue, we will go on to form our working agreement.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist with twenty six years of experience in working with many different topics of presenting issues with both individuals and couples.

The way in which I work is client led, keeping the client at the centre of the work at all times. I bring therapeutic skills, emotional and practical coping strategies and psychoeducational support into the work to help the client(s) to understand why they feel as they do and help them cope as best as they can on their journey of self discovery and change.

Some of my professional training is reflected in the list below.

My specialism is working with losses in life, bereavement, life threatening illness, life limiting illness and End of life.

I have many years of working in the hospice sector, NHS, police, healthcare professionals and organisations as well as private practice.

Practice description

I offer both online and in person therapy. I work as an integrative practitioner in a client centred way, meaning I will be led by the client and do not have an agenda.  I seamlessly bring in several therapeutic models of interventions to meet the clients' specific need.

I say to all clients that they are the expert of themselves, only they know how they feel, and I bring the skills to work with their individual need(s), creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship.

My first session

Initially, I offer a thirty minute phone call at no charge.  This gives us both the opportunity to say hello and think together about what kind of support is needed.

Often clients ask me during our initial call if I speak in sessions.  The answer to that is yes, the therapy I offer is a conversation where I respond to what is being said.

The first session is usually 90 minutes long and gives us both the time to get to know each other a little and be sure that we feel comfortable to work together.  I do not charge for the first 30 minutes of this first session as it is a time for us both to get a sense of if we want to work together.  This way of working feels fair on us both.

Following this and depending on need, I may ask that we do a short questionnaire on how the client has been feeling to ensure the specific support I offer is the right support. In the majority of cases it is and very rarely it is not, but if it is not, I help the client to find the appropriate support.

Once we both feel happy to work together we discuss practical arrangements such as, appointment days, times, length of session, confidentiality, hourly fee, reviews, and anything else that might feel important to us both as this forms the foundation from which we work.

Following this the client has the opportunity to talk about anything they need to.

I, personally recognise that taking the very first step into therapy is a courageous thing to do and often we can put it off in the hope things might get better, or change, and we won't need it,  I say 'we' because I too have been 'the client' in my life, I have felt vulnerable, so I absolutely know how much courage this takes.

For reassurance purposes only, I am happy to share that I have often been told by clients, over many years of practice, that my gentle approach feels both safe and reassuring from the moment of our initial phone call, onwards, which for me as a practitioner is lovely to hear and for potential clients is reassuring to hear and feel.
