About me and my therapy practice

I work in person or online

Practice description

My approach to supervision is grounded in the belief that a meaningful, supportive and collaborative relationship provides the foundation for effective supervision.

My goal is to offer an opportunity to nurture your resilience, strengthen your confidence, deepen your self-awareness and support you in providing ethical and effective care to your clients.

My approach integrates 3 complementary supervision models: the Supervision Alliance Model, the Cyclical Model and the Seven-Eyed Model. These are underpinned by the Person-Centred Approach and Clarkson’s Five Relationship Framework.

Together, these approaches help me create a supervisory relationship built on trust, empathy, respect, curiosity, compassion and clear professional boundaries. I aim to offer a space where you feel heard, supported and valued, while also feeling encouraged to reflect, explore challenges, question your practice and develop professionally.

The Cyclical Model provides a structured yet flexible framework for our work together. It helps us identify your needs, establish a focus for supervision, explore relevant experiences and reflections, and consider meaningful ways forward. It ensures that we give attention to both your immediate concerns and your wider professional development.

The Seven-Eyed Model encourages us to look at your work from different perspectives. We explore the experiences and needs of your clients, your responses as a practitioner, our supervisory relationship and the wider professional and organisational systems influencing your work. This broader perspective supports deeper reflection and a better understanding of the therapeutic process.

My intention is to provide a supportive, containing and appropriately challenging space where you feel safe to bring uncertainty, difficulties, questions and successes. Through our relationship, I hope to model the qualities of a good enough, trauma-informed and collaborative relationship that you can draw upon in your own work with clients.

My first session

During our first session, we will take time to discuss and agree on a supervision contract. This is an opportunity for us to explore our mutual expectations, clarify our roles and responsibilities, and establish how we would like to work together.

We will discuss practical arrangements, including the frequency and structure of our sessions, confidentiality, professional boundaries and my approach to supervision. We will also explore your individual learning needs, professional development goals and preferred learning style, ensuring that the supervision process reflects your experience and individual circumstances.

I believe establishing a clear framework from the beginning helps create a sense of trust, safety and consistency. It provides a supportive space where you may feel comfortable sharing your experiences, exploring challenges, asking questions and receiving constructive feedback. It also offers an opportunity to reflect openly on your practice without fear of judgement.

About me and my therapy practice

I work in person or online.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor working in schools, community settings and private practice with children, young people and adults. My approach places the client at the centre of the therapeutic process. I aim to offer a safe, respectful and non-judgemental space where clients feel heard, understood and supported in exploring their experiences at their own pace. I see each client as an individual with their own experiences, strengths and capacity for growth.

My integrative practice include the person-centred approach, which underpins my work. I prioritise the therapeutic relationship and support clients in developing self-awareness, self-acceptance and confidence in their own choices. Cognitive-behavioural approaches provide practical strategies and psychoeducation when helpful, while psychodynamic theory informs my understanding of attachment, development, emotional defences and relational patterns. I introduce these perspectives in response to each client’s needs rather than expecting clients to fit a particular model.

I hold additional qualifications in counselling children and young people, complex trauma and childhood abuse, self-harm, child protection, parenting, domestic abuse and suicide intervention. I also use creative and symbolic approaches to help clients express emotions, explore difficult experiences and develop understanding in ways suited to their age, development and individual circumstances.

I use evidence-informed approaches and validated tools, to support assessment and evaluate progress. Regular supervision helps me reflect on my work, respond to changing needs and identify when additional support or referral is appropriate.

Safeguarding, confidentiality, consent and client autonomy underpin my practice. I work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals when appropriate, while respecting each client’s privacy and individual needs.

My first session

During our first session, we take time to get to know each other and explore what has brought you to counselling. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we work at a pace that feels right for you. We discuss how counselling works, my role and responsibilities, and any questions or concern you might have. Together, we explore what you hope to gain from our work and what would help you feel supported. This initial process helps us build a shared understanding of your needs and goals, laying the foundations for a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, heard, and respected.
