Joanne Allmand

I am an Accredited Humanistic Integrative therapist working in Coventry and hold a Level 7 Diploma in Supervision from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute in Nottingham. 

I work with individuals as well as groups in an integrative, reflexive style, mindfully working within each supervisee’s modality and careful to support their specific needs. I welcome trainee therapists and may be able to offer a reduced rate for counselling students in placement. 

I have a private therapy practice in Coventry and have also worked with Coventry and Warwickshire Mind in their IRSS service, as well as being an associate counsellor for The Lighthouse counselling service for a number of years. I have a wide experience of working with adults in therapy – with a range of issues including trauma, childhood experiences, self-esteem, living with a psychiatric diagnosis, domestic abuse, bereavement and loss, and relationship issues.

In my practice, my aim is to work with you, exploring your experience of the world and how it is affecting you. During our sessions, we work together - taking time to build a good relationship, sitting together with the difficult stuff and finding our way through the feelings it brings up. 

Having worked for over 20 years in education and also for the local authority, I have had extensive experience of supporting people through a range of issues which affect their self-image, their relationships and their aspirations for the future. Since beginning my formal therapist training in 2010 I have worked in a range of non-profit counselling and mental health organisations in Coventry, as well as in private practice. I also hold a Diploma in counselling supervision.

Qualifications:

- BSc Hons in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, accredited by Coventry University and studied at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, Nottingham. BACP accredited course.

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and subscribe to the BACP Ethical Framework and Code of ethics, to regular supervision of my work and to ongoing reflexive training programmes.
