About me and my therapy practice
I am able to provide sensitive and collaborative supervision using the Seven-Eyed Hawkins and Shohet model to support both trainee and qualified counsellors. As well as meeting professional and ethical requirements, supervision also provides a space for ongoing personal development and an opportunity to engage in a restorative process of self-care.
Since 2020 I have successfully provided clinical supervision for qualified, trainee and volunteer counsellors.
Practice description
I trained as a person-centred counsellor, qualifying in 2014. My own counselling experience has been gained from working with clients of all ages, including children & young people, and young adults. I have also supported clients in groups through a combination of psycho-education and therapy. I have worked in many different environments including school, hospice, and community settings. My current employment is as a counsellor providing emotional support to university students.
I have significant experience working with loss and grief, life-changing illnesses, bereavement, and trauma. I am interested in exploring how creative and nature based therapies can help to support clients who find themselves faced with these life challenges. Over the years I have incorporated creative techniques into my own practice to adapt to the needs of children and adults who may find traditional talk therapy challenging.
Prior to my career as a counsellor I was a teacher working in both primary schools and FE colleges. For the past five years I have also worked with the Open University as an Associate Lecturer on their D241 module: Exploring Mental Health & Counselling.
My first session
I offer a first free session of up to 30 minutes where we can discuss your needs as a supervisee and decide between us whether we can work together.
My full rate for supervision is £60.00 for up to 1.5 hours.
Supervision sessions can be either face-to-face or online.
NB: I work from home and have a pet so my premises may not be suitable for face-to-face appointments if you have a cat allergy.
