I have been in practice as a Counsellor for 20 years of which, I have been supervising Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Supervisors and other Professionals in the helping professions for more than 10 years. This has been in both the Private Practice setting and within a BACP Accredited Counselling. I have experience of managing and supervising Counsellors from a range of modalities including, but not limited to: Integrative, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Transactional Analysis.

I have also had the privilege of working with Counsellors practising at different stages in their development, from those in training, offering counselling for the first time in voluntary placements, to highly qualified and experienced practitioners working either with extremely challenging caseloads or in challenging settings e.g. within Prison Services.

Over the years I have supported a number of Counsellors in their successful accreditation with BACP by providing mentoring through the process and by reviewing applications before submission. If you require short-term supervision to support you through this process please get in touch.

I have more than 20 years experience of direct Counselling work as well as significant experience across the fields of Homelessness and Addictions with further experience in Teaching, Training and Managing services, including a BACP Accredited Counselling Service. 

Working together: Above all, we need to establish whether we, and especially you, feel that we can have a good working relationship; the starting point from which we can look together at addressing whatever concerns you wish to bring to counselling.

We will use our first session to explore this together by talking about what has prompted you to seek counselling, what you hope it will help you with and in what ways the service I offer can meet these expectations. Don't worry if you're not sure how to express your reasons for attending counselling or what you hope it might help with; we can always look at these uncertainties together.

I offer an Integrative approach to counselling which means that I draw on different counselling theories in my work as appropriate to each person and/or the issues that present in counselling. One of the benefits of such an approach is that I can be flexible; if the way we are working together doesn't feel like its addressing your reasons for attending counselling, I can suggest alternative ways of working together to make sure you receive a counselling service that you feel is helpful to you.
