About me and my therapy practice

Clinical Director :The Rock Clinic Association, Brighton.

Director: University of Sussex Counselling Service. (retired)

I work broadly speaking within the psychodynamic framework but am also able to offer CBT and systemic therapy (for couples or families).  I have been in practice for over 30 years so bring  widespread experience or presenting issues, conflicts or relational challenges.  These might include work-based difficulties, cultural dynamics to do with ethnicity, class or gender or more personal aspects to do with relationships,  identity and self esteem.

Practice description

As a very experienced therapist, I am familiar with many of the stresses and distresses of 21st century living.  I aim to offer a secure and confidential space where these concerns can be outlined within an interactive and responsive relationship.  Using the insights of psychodynamic thinking, I would hope to help those who see me develop insight and understanding as well as formulating new ways going forward.

My first session

The first session may feel more of a fact finding experience as it is helpful for me to understand what the problems might be and some of the background to these.

It can also be a helpful way of finding our whether we can work together as well as discussing the practical aspects of arranging therapy.
