About me and my therapy practice
I provide supervision from a person centred approach.
My aim in my counselling practice, as a person centred therapist, is to support clients through the process without judgement. I aspire to strengthen each person's confidence to encourage personal growth. I specialise in Bereavement and Loss - there is nothing that can prepare us for the loss of a loved one and although grief is a natural process, for most people bereavement will be the most distressing experience they will ever face.
As a supervisor I aim to offer time and space to work through any physical or emotional stresses that can be encountered in the client work. Providing an opportunity to explore all aspects of a case load and/or personal issues of my supervisee - in order to ensure that both the needs of clients and therapists are being addressed and the therapist’s own awareness, skills and knowledge are being developed.
Reflection upon both the content and process of the client work is key to our work together.
Practice description
My philosophy for person centred counselling and for supervision, is to see my clients/supervisees as having a strong ability and inclination to want to move towards to their full potential, as much as is possible in todays rushed lifestyle. However, this ability can often become blocked or distorted by their life experiences, particularly those experiences which affect their sense of self.
Working with a client/supervisee to understand their individual experiences, from their perspective, ensures a positive valuation of them as a person in all aspects of their humanity, while aiming to be open and genuine. My main principles of the person centred approach is in valuing people, promoting autonomy, life experience, understanding relationships and environment which form with the core conditions of psychological contact, the vulnerable client, congruence, empathy, unconditional positive regard coming together to build a therapeutic alliance with my client and supervisees.
