About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified supervisor as well as a humanist integrative counsellor. I offer clinical supervision to experienced therapists and trainees, as well as other individuals working in the helping profession who require supportive reflection and supervision in their roles.
I am passionate about supporting my fellow therapists and helping professionals by offering high quality, relational, and restorative supervision; facilitating growth and development towards their full potential.
Practice description
I have an NCS accreditied supervision diploma from the Iron Mill College. My supervisory practice is based on Hawkins and Shohet's 7-eyed model as well as Stoltenberg and Delworth's integrative development model. It is also deeply entrenched in the humanist values of my core training, so I place both relationship, and the value of the unique individual at the heart of my work.
I aim to provide a safe, trusting and contained space for you to reflect on your work. I will work transparently with you and encourage you to be curious about all aspects of your work and who you are as a practitioner, with the aim of facilitating your development, enhancing ethical practice and promoting good quality practice for you and your clients.
I have a wide range of experience of over - years in the mental health field, working in hospitals and in primary care as a GP, before deciding to focus my work solely as a counsellor and supervisor. I have been involved in mentoring counselling trainees as well as providing pastoral support for GPs across Devon for the local medical committee.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial meeting for us to find out about each other. We will explore your practice and what you hope to get from supervision together and discuss the relevant contracting involved in this. I feel that developing a trusting and collaborative relationship is key to the success of supervision, so it is important for you to feel we are a good fit.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative, humanist therapist. This means that I can work in a variety of ways to suit each individual client, focusing on what’s important to you and at a pace that suits you. My therapeutic approach includes aspects of Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, but is primarily based on a Person-Centred perspective. I believe in our ability to develop and grow as unique individuals. My aim is to support you in working towards a deeper understanding of yourself and your world; moving closer towards reaching your full potential.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that I abide by the BACP code of ethics, undergo regular supervision and keep my skills and knowledge updated.
I have worked in the health profession for over 20 years; for 13 years as a GP. I have always had a special interest in mental health and emotional well-being, and in the value of a therapeutic relationship. I have long been an advocate of using ‘talking therapy’ for emotional-wellbeing and after finding counselling extremely helpful in my own life journey I began training in counselling.
I completed an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling at the Iron Mill College in Exeter and I now work as a counsellor for the Counsellors Southwest Community Interest Company, delivering NHS based counselling in health centres, to patients who are referred by their doctor, as well as in private practice. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor.
I have experience of working with many aspects of mental health & psychological well-being including; anxiety, stress, personal development, relationships, work related issues, grief or loss, depression, health related difficulties, carers issues and self-esteem.
Practice description
I work with adults on a one to one basis. I am currently offering face to face sessions from my room at Seale Hayne Campus. This is a first floor south facing, airy and spacious room. There are toilet facilities close by and a cafe with large lawned area and seating in the Quadrangle, Free parking is available close by. I am also able to offer sessions via zoom or over the phone.
Counselling can be short or long term. The amount of sessions you may want will depend on what issues you would like to address. We will review this regularly. You can end your sessions at any time.
My first session
I am very happy to answer any questions you may have about me or the counselling process before you decide whether you would like to work with me. I believe that it is important for you to find the right counsellor; someone who feels like a 'good fit' for you. I offer a no charge, no obligation introductory meeting of up to half an hour; for you to see what it feels like to work with me before making your choice.
Please feel free to contact me by phone/ text or email. Please note that I always have my phone on silent when I am working with clients, but if you leave a voice or text message I will get back to you as soon as possible.
