About me and my therapy practice

I have been working as an NHS supervisor for 3 years and undertook the NHS approved training last year. As a Person Centred Counsellor, my aim is to help you by walking alongside, offering a different perspective on your client, and their impact on you. I look to provide a warm encouraging space for you to explore any issues or feelings of stuckness you may be experiencing, as well as celebrate and encourage your achievements.

Practice description

Although I hang the framework of supervision on the formative, normative and restorative model, I am always aware of the need to adjust this to provide what you and your clients need most.

I aim to provide a warm and authentic environment for you to feel safe exploring any issues you may be experiencing in client work. Although I am primarily a Person Centred Counsellor, I am also trained in Interpersonal Therapy - although I am not a trained supervisor in IPT. I have worked using Compassion Focused Model approach. This gives me additional tools and experience to draw on, that I would be happy to share with you.

My first session

I offer an initial session of 30 minutes at a rate of £20 so we can get to know each other, and you can ask me any questions you may have.

I would negotiate a supervision contract with you, where we each are able to set expectations and goals of supervision. I would expect that you arrive at supervision sessions prepared to discuss each client and areas that you would want to focus on.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello. My name is Mary. I am an experienced, accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, offering confidential one to one therapy in a calm and respectful environment.

People come to counselling for a variety of reasons. You may be struggling with difficulties in relationships, adjusting to a new phase of your life, or trying to make sense of how life has been for you. Finding the right counsellor for you can give you the confidence to open up and share your story. I offer a warm and genuine experience where you can be heard and understood. Together, we can explore your difficulties, look at how they have impacted you, and find a way of moving forward that works for you.

Practice description

My humanistic and integrative training means that I am able to draw on various models, rooted mainly in the person-centred approach, always seeing you as a unique individual. I have a special interest in working with those who have been in intimate relationships where there has been domestic abuse. Emerging from these relationships can be a painful and confusing experience. I am here to offer compassion and expertise, allowing for the expression of deep emotions in a safe and empathic environment.

My first session

I offer a reduced rate for the first session of £20 for the first session of 30 minutes - which I see an assessment. This session is an opportunity for you to see whether I am the right therapist for you, and ask any questions you may have. Should you decide to go ahead, I also do a risk assessment, as I want to know we will be safe to work together. I will also send through a contract of our work where I outline confidentiality limits and data protection requirements.
