About me and my therapy practice
My supervision is supervisee-led and grounded in the person-centred experiential approach. I trained specifically as a supervisor in PCE-CfD (Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression), and the same principles shape how I work with everyone, whatever their role. You bring what matters most to you, and we use the time to explore it together.
A safe space to explore. I aim to offer the qualities I'd hope you offer your own clients: empathy, warmth and genuine acceptance. You can bring anything, including uncertainty, doubt or the things you'd rather not admit, without feeling judged.
Your experience is the focus. I'm less interested in fixing problems than in understanding what your work is like for you. We'll spend time on your experience of your clients and what the work stirs up in you, including how it feels in the room and afterwards. Often clarity comes through that exploration, without anyone needing to tell you what to do.
Attention to our relationship. The supervisory relationship matters. I'll pay attention to how it feels between us and check in on whether the supervision is working for you.
Theory linked to practice. When it's helpful, we'll connect what you're experiencing to theory and to your own way of working, so that ideas are useful in the room and not just something you've read.
Your frame of reference. I'll seek to understand your work from your own perspective, and support you to work in your own way, whether you're a trainee finding your style or an experienced practitioner.
Together we can make space to:
Explore your client or service-user work and the questions it raises
Think through ethical dilemmas and professional boundaries
Look after your wellbeing and guard against burnout
Meet the requirements of your training course, professional body or organisation
Practice description
I'm an accredited member of the BACP and hold a Diploma in PCE-CfD Supervision, offering supervisee-led supervision to trainee counsellors, qualified counsellors, and practitioners in other helping roles.
Good supervision is more than a requirement. It's where the work gets held, questioned and deepened. My aim is to offer a setting that is supportive, honest and respectful of where you are in your work.
I have experience of offering supervision to Home-Start volunteers for eight years, supporting people who work alongside families in often demanding circumstances. I'm also a practising counsellor (both for the NHS and in my own private practice), with experience of teaching and assessing trainee counsellors, so I understand the pressures and questions that come with training, early practice and long-term work alike.
I hope to offer a space to think, reflect and keep growing in your practice.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, where we can explore what supervision means to you, what you hope to use the space for and to see if we might be a good fit.
I offer individual and small group supervision either in person at my practice in Bushey or online via Zoom. I am available to offer group work at your organisation too.
Length and frequency: 45 or 90 minutes fortnightly or monthly, but this can be flexible to suit your needs
We'll agree a supervision contract together, covering confidentiality, boundaries and what we both expect from the work.

About me and my therapy practice
Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, things happen and cause difficult thoughts, feelings and emotions. Knowing how and where to share and process these may feel hard, creating a sense of loneliness. I offer a confidential space, where I aim to build a trusting and non-judgemental relationship with you. Together, I hope we can explore how you feel and understand things from your point of view.
I have been working as an Integrative Counsellor for over a decade. I am also a qualified Person Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression Practitioner. I strongly believe in offering a therapeutic approach to suit the individual person, taking into account physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs.
As a counsellor in the NHS I have a broad experience and understanding of circumstances that impact self-esteem, mental health and wellbeing. Whilst my background in the charitable sector has given me insight and understanding into the issues affecting families with young children, and the challenges that parents face. This includes working with postnatal-depression, attachment issues, disabilities, childhood trauma, addictions and isolation.
My areas of interest include:
Parenting (including pregnancy): my work at the charity Home-Start gave me insight and understanding about the impact of becoming a parent. I feel passionate about offering a space to parents to reflect and discover how they can be 'good enough' for their children.
Depression: recognising your emotional responses and find a deeper understanding of the meaning behind these.
Anxiety: finding coping strategies to manage anxious thoughts and feelings.
Bereavement: offering support and understanding about your grief experience.
Relationships: offering support when relationships feel difficult and challenging. This could include understanding how attachments were formed in early life. I also have experience and knowledge of working with issues around domestic abuse.
Practice description
At the heart of the work I do is building a trusting relationship between myself and the person I am seeing, with a focus on seeing you as a whole person and your experience of the world, rather than symptoms.
Difficult life experiences can cause low mood or depression for a number of reasons. This might be due to bereavement/loss, adjustment to life events, being overly critical of yourself, feeling worthless, having unresolved feelings from difficult relationships or experiencing relationship difficulties. These events could have happened in the past or more recently.
My approach focuses on exploring underlying emotions which could be the cause of the depression. It encourages you to express and make sense of your emotions (thoughts and behavioural responses), to develop new ways of relating to yourself and the world around you.
Whilst my expertise and background relates to early childhood experiences and parenting, I also have knowledge and understanding of a broad range of issues affecting mental health and wellbeing.
I can offer face-to-face sessions at a consulting room in Bushey. Or sessions via Zoom.
My qualifications include:-
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Integrative)
PCE-Cfd Practitioner Certificate of Competence
Level 2 Understanding Substance Misuse
How to do counselling online: a coronavirus primer
Infant Mental Health Online training
