About me and my therapy practice

I trained with Cascade Associates in 2026/7 gaining the diploma in individual and group clinical supervision. I bring a broad-spectrum approach to supervision as per the process model described by Proctor & Inskipp. The focus is on the formative, normative and restorative facets of clinical supervision using the 8-eyed supervisor double matrix process model.

Normative looking at boundaries, dual roles, difference, theoretical approach and adherence to the Theoretical Framework

Formative in linking theory to practice, identifying training needs, the use of self and process, encouraging authenticity.

Restorative in helping the supervisee to feel supported, restoring trust in themselves, validating, identifying pressure points, encouraging creativity, reinforcing trust in practice and process, and allowing them to accept their own humanity.

My responsibility is as a gatekeeper for the profession but at the same time I am keen to work in a collegial way with supervisees, accommodating their age and stage, believing that good relationship is key to good practice.

Sessions are normally monthly as per the BACP recommendations, these may be in person or online.

Practice description

My hope for our sessions is that we’ll get to know each other and create a spirit of trust.

I would hope to provide a space to explore and reflect upon the supervisee's work.  To help them to develop self-awareness and gain fresh perspectives.  To identify their own and others’ interrelational styles. To develop a space where we can explore and express emotional concerns or pressures, whether personal or work related as each impinges upon the other, and to encourage growth.

About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative counsellor, bringing an eclectic approach to sessions dependent upon the needs of the client. Although much of my work is in general counselling and pastoral care, I am experienced in therapeutic creative arts therapies, each underpinned by the core conditions of the person-centred approach, and respectful of each person’s spirituality.

Much of my work has been with abuse, domestic violence, rape, trauma and relationship issues, but whatever a person’s situation, I know that a safe and trusted relationship with a counsellor can be central to that person’s ability to gain insight and make meaning of their life.

I come from a pastoral background, initially as a lay counsellor in the late 80’s, then gaining professional qualifications in pastoral counselling and creative arts therapies working with all ages.

I am a qualified clinical supervisor and an accredited member of the BACP, whilst also being involved in aspects of pastoral and spiritual care & support.

Practice description

I believe that everyone's story is significant and important and I want to learn how your story has brought you to this place now. Every event in life is like a pebble dropped in a pond - it creates a ripple effect, some for good and some for harm.  My hope is that we can work collaboratively towards understanding, and by gaining insight, growth so that you are able to thrive as you were always meant to.

We may begin by talking, but when talking isn't easy we can also use creative ways to help, whether that's through art, sand tray, or some other medium.   This is easier if you come in person, but art images can be helpful even on line. Even your dreams can give us information that could be helpful for your journey.

If you are a person of faith then you needn't be afraid to talk about your relationship with God.  I understand. Talking to a counsellor can help to alleviate that feeling of isolation or shame so whatever you bring, I will meet you right there.
