About me and my therapy practice

You might say that I offer therapy for your therapy. I'm interested in working with counsellors and student counsellors who are willing to look at who they in in the therapy room so that you can provide the very best for your clients, but also yourself. I believe it's fundamental not to lose sight of the person you are as your humanness is what makes change possible.

Practice description

I'm a person-centred counsellor, accredited by the BACP. I'm also the Recognition Scheme Development Officer at COSCA, working with organisations towards COSCA's stamp of excellence, Recognition. This means that I have experience of the dynamics of working within an organisation as well as in private practice.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe many people spend their lives performing, surviving, striving, or adapting themselves to meet other people’s expectations. Counselling offers a space to step outside of that pressure and ask more honest questions:

What do I want? What do I need? Is that deep-held belief about myself actually true?

I am a counsellor who helps people slow down enough to hear themselves clearly.

When I'm not seeing clients I work for COSCA, Scotland's professional body for counselling and psychotherapy, so you know you are in safe hands.

Practice description

I work particularly well with people who are trying to reconnect with themselves.

Often these are people who have spent years:

· striving and achieving without feeling fulfilled

· adapting themselves to meet others’ expectations, perhaps as part of the LGBTQ+ community

· surviving difficult childhoods, relationships, or environments

Many of my clients arrive at a point of transition:

· finishing education

· reaching long-held goals and wondering “what now?”

· recovering from emotionally difficult relationships

· beginning to question the roles they’ve always played

I especially value working with people who are ready to explore themselves more honestly and begin recognising that their own needs, feelings, and desires matter too.

My first session

I work in Causewayside, at The Edinburgh Counselling Studio, in a quiet and confidential space or we can meet online.

We will talk about what brings you to counselling, what you would like to work on and any questions you may have. If we decide that we might be a good fit for each other, then I will support you to look at yourself and work with what we find.

My sessions last an hour and will be in the same place at the same time each week.
