About me and my therapy practice
Experience
Qualified supervisor with extensive experience of supervising counsellors (including students) working in charities, organisations, universities, schools and private practice. I also lecture in counselling on various counselling courses for the University of South Wales and previously setting up and managing a large counselling service. This has provided me with a depth of understanding of how organisational complexities and cultures can impact on counselling. I have been in private practice as a counsellor since 2009 and gained much experience in the challenges this can bring.
My supervision experience includes working with individuals but also extends to working with groups. I aim to provide a safe and collaborative approach to supervision by supporting supervisees to develop increased awareness of themselves, their work and how they interact with their clients.
Theoretical Orientation
Choosing a supervisor who understands the supervisees theoretical orientation is extremely important. I work from an integrative approach which has been supplemented over the years with additional therapies. I therefore have a broad understanding of many approaches which include Person-Centred, Existential, Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness CBT, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and creative ways of working with adults and children.

About me and my therapy practice
Highly qualified and experienced counsellor with 19 years practice within mental health. I work with individuals and couples and endeavour to provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment to help you. Either as a couple or individual, together we would explore your experiences and feelings, concentrating on what you consider most important. Integrative therapy is designed to have a flexible approach which enables the counsellor to closely follow your unique way of experiencing the world and adapt to the different types of issues you bring. Working closely with you, my aim would be to help you make sense of your issues and/or to explore ways of approaching them in a potentially different way and find resolution.

My first session
The first session is where we get to know each other and for you to assess if you feel comfortable with me supporting you. It will also be a chance to go through any questions about the process and to agree a way of working together. I’ll invite you to tell me about your current situation and what is troubling you. During this section, I’ll be assessing your needs, priorities, any risks to your well-being and how I can support you with these. At the end of the session there will be an opportunity to ask any further questions. There is no obligation to book further sessions as you may need time to consider this. However, if you feel comfortable, we may agree to continue working together and book further sessions.
