About me and my therapy practice
I am a counsellor and supervisor working at the University of Cambridge counselling service for students and I also have a private practice.
I offer online supervision to counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and other allied health professionals working therapeutically with people seeking psychological support. I work with practitioners in training and those more established in their field. I am open to developing long-term supervisory relationships or offering single session consultations. I work with individuals and groups.
My journey as a therapist started in 2006 when I became a volunteer counsellor on a helpline for young people in Aotearoa New Zealand. I later completed a postgraduate training in Narrative Therapy and worked with education and health providers before returning to the UK in 2017. My practice is informed by social constructionist theory and how it has been applied to therapeutic work with clients. I maintain a pluralistic stance bringing together narrative and existential therapy approaches. As a supervisor I endeavour to co-create a collaborative space with supervisees to explore and reflect on their therapy work. In Aotearoa New Zealand, I was fortunate to have the experience of training and practicing in an environment supportive of Māori cultural knowledge and decolonising therapy practice. Cultural safety has become a foundational tenet of my practice.
I have experience of working in universities, secondary education, residential and community addiction services and private practice.
I am a registered and accredited member of the BACP and completed postgraduate supervision training with Northside Training.
