About me and my therapy practice

My supervisory approach is working with an integrated approach to supervision helping therapists and counsellors to support their clients in a safe, ethical and professional way.

I'm a firm believer in promoting a restorative practice whereby as counsellors/therapists we have a duty to look after ourselves in order we can best support our clients. Having a supervisor we can relate to is a key factor in reducing client fatigue and burn-out.

Further to my on-the-job experience as a supervisor, in 2023 I completed my training for a Level 6 certificate with Place2Be and accredited by the CPCAB. My training has been influenced using Shohet & Hawkins 'Seven-eyed Model of Supervision' but I am also influenced by the work of the chartered counselling psychologist Michael Carroll.

Practice description

Since 2017 I have supervised counsellors on placement (trainee and qualified) with the children's mental health charity Place2Be. I have previously supervised bereavement volunteers for the national bereavement charity Cruse.

In my private supervision practice I see supervisees at my quiet home close to Crosby beach or if you wish online via Microsoft Teams.

My philosophy of supervision in the helping professions is to support you in your practice by offering a safe, confidential, non-judgmental environment. I firmly believe it is only by building and maintaining trust in the supervisory relationship that a therapist allows themselves to be their genuine selves. This I believe builds a place of restoration so that you can continue to work in the sometimes challenging environment of psychotherapy and counselling.

My first session

I offer a free no obligation 20-30min phone or online consultation to help us get to know each other.

From then, I will send you my supervision agreement and ask you to complete a short contact details sheet.

Once you are happy to proceed with me, we can schedule our first supervision meeting.

About me and my therapy practice

From 2015 I have worked as an integrative counsellor in private practice supporting adults and young people with a range of mental health difficulties including bereavement and loss, anxiety and depression, suicide, developmental trauma, relationship problems and physical and emotional abuse.

My private practice involves working with adults presenting with various mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression and trauma. I also support several supervisees within my private practice who are at different levels of their counselling career.

I have particular interests in attachment theory, developmental trauma, bereavement/grief and children & young people's counselling.

Practice description

I offer a compassionate and confidential one-to-one counselling service supporting children, young people and adults with a range of emotional difficulties including bereavement and loss, anxiety, depression, stress and trauma. The aim of my service is to listen and understand you, help you address your problems and support you to lead a more fulfilled life. There are no judgements and I will treat you with compassion and respect.

Please contact me either via mobile or email to enquire further about my service or to book a free 20 minute telephone or on-line consultation.
