About me and my therapy practice
I'm a qualified counsellor, clinical supervisor and founder of Serendipity Counselling York, a growing counselling practice supporting adults, young people, couples and families across York and North Yorkshire.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2018, following more than 15 years working in health and social care, including experience within children's mental health services. My professional background has given me a broad understanding of the complexities of therapeutic work, the challenges practitioners face and the importance of having a supportive space in which to reflect, question and develop.
Alongside my own clinical practice, I lead a team of qualified counsellors and trainee practitioners, supporting their professional development and helping them navigate the realities of therapeutic work. I also work collaboratively with community organisations, charities and other professionals to improve access to counselling and mental health support.
My Approach to Supervision
I believe good supervision is about much more than reviewing client work or meeting professional requirements. It should be a space where you feel supported, appropriately challenged and able to explore your practice openly, without fear of judgement.
My approach is relational, collaborative and reflective. I aim to build a supervisory relationship where curiosity, honesty and thoughtful exploration are encouraged. I recognise that we all bring our own experiences, values and vulnerabilities into the therapy room, and I see supervision as an opportunity to understand how these influence our work.
Supervision with me offers space to explore clinical dilemmas, ethical considerations, risk, boundaries, the therapeutic relationship and the emotional impact of client work. I'm particularly interested in helping practitioners develop confidence in their own clinical judgement and therapeutic identity, rather than feeling they must always have the 'right' answer.

Who I Work With
I offer clinical supervision to qualified counsellors, trainee counsellors and practitioners working in private practice, charities and organisational settings.
Having established and developed a multi-counsellor practice, I also understand the practical and professional challenges of working independently. I'm happy to explore the wider aspects of private practice, including professional boundaries, managing a caseload, ethical responsibilities and maintaining a sustainable working life.
I believe supervision should be a relationship that evolves alongside your practice. Whether you're newly qualified, an experienced practitioner or navigating a period of professional change, my aim is to provide a space that feels both supportive and purposeful.
Supervision Sessions
I offer individual clinical supervision online or in person at my counselling offices in York.
Sessions are available at:
£75 for 60 minutes
£110 for 90 minutes
If you're looking for a supervisor, I'd be happy to arrange an initial conversation to explore what you're looking for and whether we would be a good fit.
For me, effective supervision isn't about having all the answers. It's about creating the conditions in which we can think more deeply, remain curious and continue to grow as ethical, reflective and compassionate practitioners.

About me and my therapy practice
Individual Supervision for qualified therapist and students.
I offer face to face and online supervision. I am an Intergrative Humanistic therapist and work with counsellors with client groups including adults and young people.
Practice description
I have extensive experience in a variety of counselling settings and worked with a wide range of people of different ages, social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
My training is integrative which means that I draw upon a range of different therapeutic models but is essentially humanistic and existential.
I believe that supervision is a collaborative process involving observation, evaluation and self-assessment building on the strengths and talents of the supervisee. Supervision ensures that the supervisee works in a competent manner in which ethical standards and professional practice are used to promote and protect the welfare of the client and the supervisee.
Supervision is an opportunity for the therapist to reflect on their work, to become more aware of the therapeutic processes and relational dynamics, and to gain greater confidence in understanding the therapeutic relationship.
I offer sensitive, respectful and ethically aware supervision sessions, and I actively support your professional development.
I offer individual clinical supervision to qualified counsellors as well as those in training.

About me and my therapy practice
Face to Face and Online Counselling Available
Hello, my name is Sinead and welcome to my profile. I offer a free initial telephone consultation to talk through the issues that are affecting you and how I can help.
If you’ve reached a point where life feels out of sync—whether that’s in your relationship, your career, or within yourself—you don’t have to face it alone. I’m here to help you navigate life’s complexities with clarity, confidence and compassion.
I work with people who are used to holding things together for everyone else—professionals, leaders, couples, and families who often carry a great deal of responsibility. When things start to unravel beneath the surface, it can be hard to know where to turn or how to begin. That’s where our work together begins.
As an experienced therapist and supervisor, I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can speak freely, explore what’s going on, and begin to make meaningful changes. Whether you're dealing with relationship challenges, burnout, anxiety, grief, or simply feel disconnected from yourself, I will meet you with warmth, professionalism and a clear therapeutic direction.
I also specialise in relationship therapy—including traditional and non-traditional dynamics—and can help you and your partner(s) step out of old patterns to rebuild your relationship in a way that genuinely works for you.
Alongside my private practice, I have links to York St John University as a clinical supervisor and placement provider on the PG(Dip)/MA Counselling programme. I deliver training to organisations on mental health, conflict, workplace stress and suicide prevention. I also provide clinical supervision to other counsellors and therapists.
However you're arriving here—overwhelmed, uncertain, burnt out, or just ready for something to shift—you're in the right place.
Let’s talk about what you need.

Face to Face and Online Counselling Available
I specialise in Anger Management and have co-facilitated a research project at York St John University, developing tools and practical strategies for client use.
I can help adults, young people and coupes work through the issues that are affecting them.
I work closely with the LGBT community, providing a safe, non judgemental space for clients to explore both their sexuality and gender and place in the world.
Currently I am working in collaboration with specialist men's groups (Menfulness) to support the mental health of men and reduce the stigma around accessing support through counselling.
My first session
I offer a free, initial telephone consultation to talk through how I can help.
Following this, should you decide to book in, I will send out my Intake Form for you to complete. Our phone conversation and the feedback on your paperwork will form the basis of our first session together.
When we meet, I will work with you to help you feel safe in your counselling work. We can talk through your aims for counselling and how you would like the sessions to look. If you have had therapy previously, it can be useful to talk through what helped and what was unhelpful.
My aim is to help you feel the work we do together is a collaboration, working in a client led way.
