About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly qualified and experienced BACP Senior Accredited Psychodynamic counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor.

Within the SCoPEd framework I am in Column C, which reflects my training, knowledge, experience and seniority within the profession.

I am widely experienced in voluntary, statutory and educational settings. I currently work in private practice. I have worked as an Associate Tutor and Supervisor on the MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leicester. I have also worked as a Senior Psychotherapist in the NHS. I was Clinical Manager at Rushden Mind for many years and managed the counselling service there.

I have worked supervised therapists from a wide variety of backgrounds and trainings, from trainees to experienced clinicians. I enjoy supporting and developing others. I am psychodynamically trained, with an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Birkbeck College, University of London. In addition to this qualification, I also have 3 academic degrees, including a PhD.

In addition to being a Senior Accredited member of the BACP, I am also a full registrant of The British Psychoanalytic Council.

I am active in my field, and in addition to my private practice, I am a Submissions Editor for the journal Psychodynamic Practice, and I also sit on a Scrutiny Committee for individuals joining the British Psychoanalytic Council.

Practice description

Supervision is a collaborative process where we work together to support you in your clinical work, building your knowledge, experience and understanding. Supervision should be an enjoyable process where you feel safe and encouraged to develop your work. If you work in other modalities other than the psychodynamic model, and you’re interested in working with me, do get in touch to discuss further.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a highly qualified and experienced BACP Senior Accredited Psychodynamic counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor. I offer both short term and long term counselling and psychotherapy and I am able to work with a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to, anxiety and depression, relationship issues, stress and bereavement.

Within the SCoPEd framework I am in Column C, which reflects my training, knowledge, experience and seniority within my profession.

I am widely experienced in voluntary, statutory and educational settings. I currently work in private practice. I have worked as an Associate Tutor on the MA in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Leicester. I have also worked as a Senior Psychotherapist in the NHS. In addition to being a senior accredited member of the BACP,  I am also a registrant of The British Psychoanalytic Council.

I offer a space to help you think about what is going on in your life. Sometimes therapy is about making sense of the past and your feelings about it. Sometimes it's about thinking about what is going on in the present, and how you can move forward. I can help you unblock feelings and think about who you are and where you want to be in your life. Therapy is a two way process, I will be there to listen and help you to get to a better place.

I am registered with AXA, Aviva, Cigna and Bupa insurance providers.

I offer online therapy which I find suits most people and offers a lot of flexibility if you might find it difficult travelling to sessions, or have a busy schedule. If you’d like to discuss how this would work for you and if it would be suitable, do contact me to discuss further. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in person sessions.

Do get in touch if you have any questions at all, if you would like to discuss whether you would like an initial appointment, or whether counselling or psychotherapy is right for you.

My first session

In the first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling or therapy, starting to think about you and your life up to now and what might be contributing to your current difficulties. There will be space for you to ask any questions you have, and for me to establish whether I am the right therapist for you.  If we are both happy to continue, we will then put some sessions in the diary. I see clients weekly, as in my experience this is the most effective. I usually see people on the same day and at the same time each week.
