About me and my therapy practice

As an integrative supervisor in counselling, I blend different theoretical models and techniques to match the unique needs, learning style, and developmental stage of the counsellor.

Core Roles and Functions

  • Tailored Approach: Adapts methods (such as psychodynamic, person-centred, or cognitive behavioural) to fit how the supervisee works.
  • Shifting Roles: Alternates between being a teacher (offering knowledge), a consultant (exploring options), and a counsellor (supporting the therapist's emotional wellbeing).
  • Balance of Support and Challenge: Creates a safe, non-judgmental space while encouraging professional growth and critical reflection.

Practice description

Key Areas of Focus in supervision

  • Client Work: Reviews caseloads, risk assessments, and specific therapeutic interventions.
  • Relational Dynamics: Explores transference (client feelings shifted onto the therapist) and countertransference (therapist reactions).
  • Ethical Practice: Ensures safety, professional boundaries, and adherence to professional guidelines.
  • Restorative Support: Relieves the emotional weight of clinical work and prevents burnout
