About me and my therapy practice
Hi, my name is Alex. I have been working therapeutically with clients for over 10 years. I work integratively, incorporating talking therapy with creative techniques.
I provide trauma-informed therapy for young people and women experiencing anxiety and overwhelm, helping clients to understand and gently work through difficult feelings and challenges that affect daily life, and to feel empowered to bring about change.
Practice description
You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or struggling with emotions that feel difficult to understand or express. I offer a warm, supportive space where young people and women can explore their experiences safely and at their own pace.
As a trauma-informed person-centred counsellor and creative arts therapist, I work gently and collaboratively, helping clients make sense of their feelings and reconnect with a sense of stability, confidence, and self-trust.
I work with children, young people and adults, offering a tailor-made approach to sessions designed to meet the needs or each person. I can meet online or in-person, either in my purpose built therapy space or walking and talking in a local park or common.
We can just talk or use creative mediums such as art materials, sand and images to help with exploring what is going on.
For children I use play therapy, as play is the way in which children communicate; for young people and adults we can use a combination of creative arts and talking therapies.
In the initial session we will establish how you want to proceed - however nothing is set in stone. I come from a person-centred approach which means that I believe that each individual knows best what they need to bring about change, and I am happy to be flexible to accommodate this
My first session
I offer an initial chat free of charge to find out more about what the individual is looking for and how I can be of help.
Prior to commencing work I will take a detailed history of the child or adult and the difficulties they are experiencing. I will then meet with the client for a brief introductory session before beginning the regular therapy sessions. If we decide to proceed with therapy sessions I will then email a contract and other paperwork.
