About me and my therapy practice
As a supervisor, I offer a calm, reflective space where you can explore your therapeutic work, deepen your clinical thinking and feel supported in your professional role. My approach is warm, collaborative and grounded, with an emphasis on helping you feel resourced, confident and connected to your own therapeutic identity.
I work integratively, drawing on person‑centred and relational approaches. This allows us to look at your practice from multiple angles — process, the therapeutic relationship, ethical considerations, risk, parts work, and your own wellbeing as a practitioner. My aim is to support you in offering safe, ethical and meaningful work to your clients while also honouring your growth and boundaries.
My background includes extensive experience within the NHS, Cruse Bereavement, Barnsley Bereavement Services, Victim Support and GamCare, supporting people through grief, trauma, anxiety, addiction and major life changes. These settings have shaped my steady, thoughtful approach to supervision and my belief in the value of reflective, supportive professional dialogue.
Supervision with me is a place to slow down, think deeply and feel genuinely supported in your work. I aim to help you develop confidence, clarity and a strong sense of your own professional voice.
Practice description
I offer a calm, grounded space where practitioners can slow down, reflect, and explore their therapeutic work with honesty and support. My supervision style is collaborative and steady, helping you deepen your clinical thinking, strengthen your therapeutic judgement, and stay connected to your own professional identity.
I work integratively, drawing from person‑centred and relational approaches alongside other models such as the Seven-Eyed Model. This allows us to look at your practice from multiple angles — process, parts work, ethical considerations, risk, the therapeutic relationship, and your own wellbeing as a practitioner. Supervision with me is a place to think deeply, explore challenges safely, and feel resourced in your work.
Practitioners often come to supervision with me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or in need of a reflective space that honours both their clients and their own needs. My role is to offer a warm, steady presence and a space where nothing is “too much”. I won’t rush you or push you into conclusions — instead, we explore your work together with curiosity, compassion and professional rigour.
You can expect supervision that feels thoughtful, supportive and grounded. Whether you’re navigating complex client presentations, ethical dilemmas, relational dynamics or your own responses in the work, you’ll be met with respect, clarity and a commitment to your ongoing development as a practitioner.
My first session
Our first supervision session is a chance for you to arrive, breathe, and begin exploring your work in a steady, supportive space. There’s no pressure to present anything perfectly — we simply start with what feels most important for you right now.
We’ll look at your current caseload, any areas where you feel stretched or unsure, and what you’re hoping to gain from supervision. I’ll invite you to talk about your therapeutic style, your strengths, and the places where you’d like more confidence or clarity.
I’ll also explain how I work as a supervisor — collaborative, reflective, and we’ll explore together whether this feels like a good fit for you. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling grounded, supported, and clear about how we can work together going forward.

About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced therapist based in the Dearne Valley, conveniently near to Cortonwood Retail Park. I offer a safe and compassionate place to explore your feelings without judgement, in a warm practical and down to earth manner.
I understand that it can be difficult to talk and understand some feelings and these may be overwhelming and confusing to you. I can help you to bring clarity to a situation and move forward with confidence. Identifying and being local to the Dearne, I developed Dearne Valley Counselling Services to meet the needs of the area in a friendly, down to earth practice open to everyone.
Having extensive training in counselling and a MSc in Developmental Psychology, with constant ongoing development, I ensure training and knowledge is constantly growing to benefit my clients.
I have extensive experience within the NHS and for charities such as Cruse Bereavement and Barnsley Bereavement Services, Victim Support, and GamCare, offering my service to those affected by Gambling Addiction. I am also qualified in couples counselling trained by the Leeds Centre for Psychological Development. I am also an experienced Counselling Supervisor, I have also worked with family Courts and local authorities throughout the UK and various EAP organisations I follow the BACP ethical framework and am bound by its guidelines to work with your best interests.

Practice description
I offer a calm, grounded space where you can slow down, breathe, and explore what’s happening in your life with honesty and support.
I work integratively, blending different therapeutic approaches so our sessions can meet you exactly where you are. This means I draw from person‑centred therapy, relational approaches, and elements of other modalities depending on what you need in the moment. Some sessions may focus on understanding emotions and patterns; others may gently explore past experiences, or help you reconnect with your strengths and sense of self. The work is always collaborative, always at your pace, and always centred on you as a whole person.
Clients often come to me when they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected — from themselves, from others, or from the life they want to be living. My role is to offer a warm, steady presence and a space where nothing is “too much”. I won’t rush you or push you into places you’re not ready to go. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you as you make sense of your experiences and begin to find clarity, confidence, and emotional ease.
You can expect sessions that feel gentle but meaningful, reflective but grounded. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, relationship difficulties, low self‑worth, or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right, you’ll be met with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
My first session
our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to begin understanding what has brought you to counselling. I aim to create a calm, steady, and confidential space where you can talk openly at your own pace. There is no pressure to share everything at once — we simply start where you feel comfortable.
During this session, we will explore what you would like support with, any goals or hopes you may have for therapy, and what you feel you need right now. I will also explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and check that my integrative approach feels like a good fit for you. This may include discussing practicalities such as session frequency, confidentiality, and how we will review our work together.
Many clients find the first session helpful for gaining clarity and getting a sense of what it might feel like to work together. You are welcome to bring notes, questions, or simply yourself — there is no right or wrong way to begin.
My intention is for you to leave the session feeling heard, respected, and informed about the next steps, whether you choose to continue with therapy or take some time to reflect.
