About me and my therapy practice
I offer a supportive, collaborative supervision space shaped by a deeply neurodivergent‑affirming philosophy. My work is grounded in curiosity, inclusivity and respect for difference, and I welcome trainee and qualified counsellors, therapists, coaches and wellbeing practitioners who value thoughtful exploration and a space where their whole selves can be present.
As a neurodivergent supervisor, I particularly enjoy working alongside neurodivergent practitioners and those supporting neurodivergent clients. I recognise that conventional models don’t suit everyone, and that our identities, lived experiences and ways of processing the world influence how we show up in our work. My intention is to create a space where you can be authentic — structured or fluid, masked or unmasked — without pressure to conform.
My approach to supervision is relational, reflective and grounded in mutual respect. I draw from pluralistic, person‑centred and trauma‑informed perspectives, weaving in creative methods, psychoeducation and coaching‑style enquiry when they add depth or clarity. I hold a strong interest in how power, language, intersectionality and wider systems shape our practice and the relationships we build.
Practice description
With two decades of experience working with children, young people, and adults across diverse environments—including early years, schools, children's homes, family contact centres, adoption therapy services, and the management of a neurodivergent therapy service for both neurodivergent therapists and clients—I bring substantial expertise. Additionally, I offer my personal perspective as an individual with lived experience of neurodivergence.
As an Integrative counsellor, I provide creative, person-centred, CBT, Gestalt, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, SandStory therapy, play therapy, and Lego-based therapy. We can work with art, clay, poetry, photography, music, symbols, story making, creative visualisations, mindfulness, sound, movement, metaphors or your interests to support your therapeutic process.
As a Creative Integrative Supervisor, I use these approaches and tailor interventions to each session's needs.
Whether you’re navigating ethical complexities, shaping your professional identity, refining your niche, or managing the impact of emotional labour and burnout, I aim to support your confidence, clarity and resilience. Supervision with me offers a space to think aloud, explore possibilities, gently challenge yourself and develop a practice that feels aligned, sustainable and true to who you are.
I offer supervision for working with children and young people, as this is a particular specialism in my own practice. Working in private practice and running your own business, I am also able to offer support with growing your own practice and have a good knowledge of using social media for business purposes.
I am based in Devon and offer online and in-person supervision. Flexible options are available, including monthly, fortnightly or ad-hoc sessions.

About me and my therapy practice
My name is Robyn Ferns, I am a qualified Play Therapist, Integrative Counsellor, Therapeutic mentor, Clinical/Creative Supervisor and Clinical Director of a therapy service.
With two decades of experience working with children, young people, and adults across diverse environments. This includes early years, schools, children's homes, family contact centres, adoption therapy services, and the management of a neurodivergent-affirming therapy service for both neurodivergent therapists and clients—I bring substantial expertise. Additionally, I offer my personal perspective as an individual with lived experience of neurodivergence.
Throughout my career I have worked with children, young people, families and adults who have experienced a wide range of life affecting difficulties such as domestic violence, alcoholism/drug use, neglect, physical and emotional abuse, child sexual exploitation (CSE), rape/sexual assault victims and perpetrators. I have worked with diverse family dynamics and challenging relationships.
I am qualified in a range of evidence-based and creative therapeutic approaches, including person-centred counselling, CBT, Gestalt therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, SandStory therapy, play therapy and Lego based therapy.
As an integrative practitioner, I do not follow a one-size-fits-all model. Instead, I draw thoughtfully from these approaches to create a personalised way of working that responds to what my clients bring to each session, at their pace, and in a way that feels supportive rather than overwhelming.

Practice description
At Sequoia Therapy, I believe everyone deserves to feel understood, respected and accepted for who they are. I offer a welcoming, non‑judgemental and affirming space where people can safely explore their experiences and move towards meaningful change. My approach is evidence‑informed, trauma‑informed and neurodivergent‑affirming.
I recognise that every person’s experiences, relationships and way of understanding the world are unique. Rather than focusing on perceived deficits, I celebrate individual strengths, value lived experience and work alongside each person to understand what matters most to them.
As a compassionate therapist, I am committed to making support accessible and inclusive. I am neurodivergent myself, bringing personal insight alongside extensive therapeutic knowledge and experience. This combination helps me build genuine, trusting relationships where people feel listened to, valued and supported.
I work with children, young people, adults and families experiencing a wide range of emotional, developmental and psychological challenges. These include developmental trauma, attachment difficulties, neurodivergence, sensory processing differences, anxiety, relationship difficulties and significant life changes. I have specialist expertise in Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, emotional regulation and developmental trauma, allowing me to tailor support to each individual rather than expecting people to fit a particular model.
I believe the best therapy is collaborative. It begins with curiosity, compassion and a genuine commitment to understanding each person’s unique experiences. While lived experience can offer valuable perspective, it is combined with professional expertise, evidence‑based practice and a dedication to helping people achieve meaningful, lasting change.
Whatever someone’s journey, I am here to offer support that is individual, respectful and centred around their unique needs.
