About me and my therapy practice
There are times in our lives when we feel we need some extra help to cope with life events and struggles. At times like these counselling can help, and that's what I am here for. I would like to help you through whatever it is that brings you here.
Whether it is stress at work, life events, or you're not sure what is wrong but feel something is not right, it can help to share your feelings with a non-judgemental companion, allowing you to clarify your own thoughts and experiences and helping you to see a way through. I will provide a safe, confidential space for you to explore what is troubling you, and working together will encourage a positive outcome.
Seeking help is the first step, and I know it’s a difficult one. Starting working with a counsellor is daunting, and the work itself can be difficult and painful, but you won’t be doing it alone, I will be right there with you.
Practice description
I am trained in Person-Centred modality, and that is my main work, but I will also incorporate some other techniques where I think it will be helpful for the client e.g. some CBT techniques, some mindfulness.
I also have a lot of experience working with autism/Asperger's Syndrome, both personally and professionally so am able to work with clients affected by these conditions as well as their family members.
Sessions will normally be 50 minutes, and I am now available to see clients in-person, online or telephone as preferred.
My first session
Choosing the right therapist is very important to get the best out of the time you are investing - so you may want to have an introductory chat before committing to a first session. I offer you the opportunity to do this either on the phone or in an online videocall - this lets us meet and see whether we can work well together.
At your first session, we will get to know one another and what has brought you to see me - we will discuss your needs and what you are hoping for from therapy, and how we can work towards achieving that.
