About me and my therapy practice

I work from a person-centred and relational perspective, offering a respectful, reflective, and non-judgemental approach to therapeutic work. My practice is grounded in the belief that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change, supported by empathy, authenticity, and careful attention to the client’s lived experience.

Alongside my counselling practice, I am a trained clinical supervisor with a person-centred orientation. I was encouraged into supervision by my own supervisor, who identified it as a natural extension of my way of working. This has shaped my supervisory practice, which places strong emphasis on reflection, ethical awareness, and the thoughtful use of self within the therapeutic relationship.

My approach aligns closely with the relational and person-centred models used within counsellor training programmes. I am an approved supervisor with Leeds Beckett University and Edge Hill University, and I value supervision as a collaborative and reflective process that supports safe practice, professional development, and the ongoing integration of theory and practice.

Sessions are available face to face, online, or by telephone. Face-to-face work is offered in Horsforth and at The Tower Clinic, Leeds.

Practice description

My supervision practice offers a reflective, supportive, and ethically focused space for counsellors at different stages of their professional journey. I work collaboratively with supervisees to explore client work, relational dynamics, and the challenges that arise in practice, with client wellbeing and ethical responsibility kept central throughout.

I primarily use the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, which allows us to consider work from multiple perspectives, including the therapeutic relationship, use of self, and the wider professional and organisational context. Supervision is responsive rather than prescriptive, adapting to the supervisee’s experience, context, and needs. I work with both trainee and experienced counsellors, including those who are well established in their practice.

I value openness and transparency in supervision and encourage supervisees to bring both strengths and areas of difficulty to the work. Supervision is approached as a collaborative and reflective process rather than a hierarchical one, and I aim to offer a contained and respectful space where uncertainty, challenge, and professional responsibility can be explored thoughtfully and without judgement.

My first session

The first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and to establish how we will work together. We will spend time discussing your current practice, training or professional context, and what you are hoping to gain from supervision. This session also allows space to explore expectations, boundaries, and any specific requirements linked to training or professional bodies (for example, completion of a four-way agreement where applicable).

We will agree a clear supervision contract, including the frequency of sessions in line with relevant professional or training guidelines (such as BACP or university requirements), ethical responsibilities, and how client work will be brought to supervision. My aim is to create a safe, respectful, and collaborative supervision space from the outset, where openness and reflection are encouraged and supervision feels supportive rather than directive.

About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified and experienced person-centred counsellor working in private practice in Leeds.

I offer individual counselling for adults, providing a supportive and confidential space to explore whatever you are bringing to therapy. My work is grounded in a person-centred and humanistic approach, which means I value the therapeutic relationship and work collaboratively, at your pace, and in a way that feels right for you.

I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem issues, bereavement, relationship concerns, and the impact of past experiences. I aim to offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where you can reflect, gain insight, and develop greater self-understanding.

I offer sessions face to face, online, or by telephone. Face-to-face sessions take place in Horsforth and the Leeds 16 area.

Further information about my approach, locations, and how to get in touch can be found on my website.

Practice description

I offer both short-term counselling and longer-term, in-depth work, depending on your needs and what you are hoping to explore.

My practice is grounded in a person-centred approach, which means I aim to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and be heard. Sessions are led by what you bring and move at your pace, rather than being driven by advice or a set agenda.

Some people come to counselling with a specific issue they want to focus on, while others use the space to reflect more broadly on their thoughts, feelings, relationships, or life experiences. There is no expectation to have everything worked out before starting.

Before beginning counselling, I offer a brief initial consultation to give you an opportunity to consider whether working together feels right for you.

Further practical information and details about my approach can be found on my website.

My first session

The first counselling session provides a space to begin exploring what has led you to seek therapy, in a supportive and non-judgemental way.

There is no expectation to know exactly what you want to say or where to begin. We will work at your pace, focusing on whatever feels most important for you to bring to the session.

I do not give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, I work alongside you to help you explore your experiences and develop your own understanding of what may be helpful for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer couples counselling to support partners who want to better understand their relationship, improve communication, or work through difficulties they may be experiencing together.

My approach to couples work is relational and collaborative. I aim to provide a balanced and respectful space where both partners can feel heard, understood, and supported. I do not take sides or assign blame, but instead focus on the patterns and dynamics that develop between partners within a relationship.

Alongside my person-centred values, my couples work is informed by transactional analysis (TA). This can be helpful in supporting couples to explore patterns of communication, expectations, and ways of relating that may be contributing to difficulties. TA offers a shared language that can help partners better understand themselves, each other, and what happens between them.

Couples come to therapy for many different reasons, including communication breakdowns, conflict, changes in trust or intimacy, life transitions, or feeling stuck or disconnected. Some couples arrive with a clear focus, while others are unsure where to begin. Both are welcome.

Further information about my approach and how to get in touch can be found on my website.

Practice description

Couples counselling sessions provide a space for partners to come together and explore what is happening within their relationship, with the support of a neutral and non-judgemental therapist.

Sessions are structured to allow both partners the opportunity to speak and be heard. I support couples to slow down conversations, reflect on patterns of interaction, and develop greater awareness of how they relate to one another. This can be particularly helpful where communication has become difficult or conversations feel repetitive, stuck, or emotionally charged.

The pace and focus of the work are guided by the couple and what feels most important to address. Some couples attend for a short period to work through a specific issue, while others choose longer-term work to explore deeper or ongoing relational patterns.

Couples do not need to have a clear plan or outcome in mind before starting. The work is collaborative and aims to support partners in developing clearer communication, increased understanding, and more intentional ways of relating.

Before beginning couples counselling, I offer a brief initial consultation to consider whether working together feels like a good fit.

Further practical information can be found on my website.

My first session

The first couples counselling session offers an opportunity to begin exploring what has led you to seek therapy together, in a supportive and balanced space.

I aim to ensure that both partners have the opportunity to speak and be heard. There is no expectation to have everything clearly defined at the outset, and we will work at a pace that feels manageable for you both.

The focus of the first session is on understanding what is happening within the relationship, rather than placing blame or taking sides. I support couples to begin reflecting on patterns of communication and ways of relating that may be contributing to the difficulties they are experiencing.

From there, we can begin to consider what each of you hopes for from counselling and how the work might be most helpful going forward.
