About me and my therapy practice

I believe that to work effectively as a counsellor, you need a supervisor you feel comfortable talking to and can be honest with. I may not have all the answers but I am here to encourage you and to explore different ways forward with you for your clients.

As your supervisor, I will not judge or tell you what to do but offer a listening ear and maybe some suggestions, as I support you to feel safe, secure and encouraged to use and develop your skills - and together, our priority will be to offer your clients excellent care. Do you need a new supervisor? Why not give me a call?

I work in private practice and in the voluntary sector, with Cruse.

I believe that everyone is uniquely valuable and can find a way through life’s issues with support, encouragement, and a willingness to explore those difficult areas.

I live in a family with autism and have written a book about my experiences of parenting my autistic son, now an adult (Another Kind of Ordinary, Living with Autism, Learning Difficulties and Aggression, The Story of a Mother’s Love by Pam Cottle, available on Amazon.) I give talks, on request, to support groups of carers and individuals with additional needs, especially on the autistic spectrum.

I am an experienced Bereavement Supporter (adult and CYP) and Supervisor, working with Cruse Bereavement Care including dealing with complex cases such as suicide, multiple losses and sudden or traumatic death.

Additionally, I have an interest in miscarriage and infertility.

Practice description

I am an integrative therapist, which means I draw from different approaches, including, person-centred, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), relaxation and mindfulness. This allows me to treat each client as an individual, exploring ways of working that suit the individual and meet their needs. It also means that I am happy to supervise counsellors following a range of modalities.

My first session

I offer a half price first session for you to try out supervision with me. I will begin by explaining the framework in which I operate and what you can expect from me. After this, I will invite you to outline what you expect from our time together and invite you to share about your client cases. We may also discuss CPD and your future plans within counselling. Towards the end of the time arranged, I will summarise what we have discussed and invite you, if you wish, to book further sessions at a mutually convenient time. I will ask you to sign the contract discussed, if you wish to proceed.

You do not have to discuss anything you are not happy to share, and you are free to ask me to pause the session at any time, but payment is required for the full amount.

Practice description

If you are experiencing bereavement, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, anger issues, relationship difficulties or infertility issues, especially if you have autism, ADHD, dyslexia or dyspraxia, it can be difficult to take the first step in seeking help. Finding the right person to help you is key. That is why I offer a half-price initial telephone consultation which gives you the chance to ask questions, explore what you want from the sessions and find out if you feel comfortable working with me.

I work mainly by phone or on Zoom which means I can support you anywhere in the UK, (providing we have a reliable signal). Sessions last approximately 50 mins and payment is required on the day.

I look forward to you sharing your unique story!
