About me and my therapy practice

I offer a supportive and thought-provoking space to explore clinical material, unconscious dynamics, and countertransference feelings, to deepen your practice.

I completed my supervision training at the Rock Clinic in Brighton, a course certified by BAPPS. My original training is from Birkbeck College, in London, where I gained a Masters (Distinction) in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The classic psychoanalytic theoretical frame offers a starting point to supervision, but my approach considers necessary adaptations to original ideas, as we navigate the diversity of the psychosocial sphere we live in today. Therefore, I am flexible in my supervisory approach, believing the foundation of a positive alliance is the ability to hold a fair frame, along with consideration-of and working-in the transference when appropriate.

I offer face-to-face or online sessions weekdays between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

I offer a 20 minute free Zoom session for you to decide if you feel like I'm the right therapist for you.

About me and my therapy practice

Perhaps you find yourself here because your anxiety and depression are affecting your everyday life, you're tired of the daily struggles you face and you want something to change.

Maybe you recognise that you are driven to repeat patterns of behaviour that cause you distress and pain in relationships. Perhaps you've had a sense for a while that something isn't quite right, a voice inside stopping you from living a happy and fulfilling life; you’re curious to see if therapy could help.

Our current thoughts and feelings - how we experience ourselves and others today - are always affected by what went before, often stemming from childhood. Our reactions to friends and family, along with our internal emotions and thought processes, are strongly based on how family members responded to us back then.

Working psychodynamically together, your therapeutic journey will bring unconscious feelings into consciousness, as we work through previously unknown thoughts and feelings, trauma, rejections and losses.

By committing to weekly therapy sessions, I will support you in exploring how past experiences, unconscious patterns, and current relationships may be affecting your life today. This work may be helpful if you are experiencing any of the following:

* Low mood, anxiety, and/or depression

* Panic attacks, sleeplessness, or persistent worry

* Bereavement, loss, or a sense of feeling lost

* Feelings of worthlessness or low self-esteem

* Difficulties setting boundaries in personal relationships and/or at work

* Challenges in relationships with parents, siblings, or adult children

* The impact on you of historical family dysfunction or mental health difficulties

* Feeling exhausted from being the family-scapegoat, or considering estrangement from loved ones

* Questioning your gender and/or sexuality

* Addictive behaviours and OCD

* Feeling as though your thoughts or actions are out of control

* Guilt, regret, or difficulty letting go of the past

* Unexplained physical or medical symptoms

Practice description

Weekly face-to-face, online, or telephone therapy

I offer sessions on weekdays between 8 AM and 6 PM in my comfortable consulting room in Worthing, West Sussex, or, if easier for you and your schedule, online via Zoom. Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place at the same time on the same day each week.

If you're not comfortable with face-to-face or video meetings, connecting by phone can be equally effective. Many people find it helpful to lie down with earphones in and eyes closed—echoing the traditional psychoanalytic setting of 'lying on the couch'.

Whatever you may be experiencing, my aim is to help you better understand the situation you find yourself in, and provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential space for you to find out who you really are, allowing a stronger, more authentic self to emerge.

My Qualifications

I hold an MSc (Distinction) in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of London, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology.

Professional Bodies

I am a fully clinically trained, insured, and registered Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), a Psychodynamic Counsellor with the British Psychoanalytic Counsel (BPC), a qualified supervisor and a member of the British Association for Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision (BAPPS), and a member of the Birkbeck Counselling Association (BCA).

My Experience

I have extensive experience of working with clients from different backgrounds, with a range of emotional difficulties, both privately and in other therapy provision services.

Fees

Initial Assessment Fee - £80

50 minute therapy session fee - £80

50 minute supervision session fee - £80

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute introductory consultation by Zoom or telephone. This gives you an opportunity to experience what it might feel like to talk with me and to consider whether working together feels right. During this call, we can begin to think about your reasons for seeking therapy and whether we feel we would be a good fit.

If, following our conversation, you decide you would like to proceed with an assessment, we will arrange two 50-minute assessment sessions. These sessions provide space to explore your difficulties in more depth and for us both to consider whether working together would be beneficial for you.

At the end of either assessment session, we can decide whether to commit to short-term therapy (a minimum of 12 sessions) or longer-term, open-ended therapy.

If you have any questions or would like to know more, please feel free to get in touch by phone or email. All enquiries are treated with strict confidentiality.

If you call and reach my voicemail, please do leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
