About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Michele, a BACP accredited counsellor and psychotherapist, and a qualified clinical supervisor. I offer a warm, down-to-earth space where you can talk openly and feel heard.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure about a relationship. Perhaps past experiences are affecting your life now, or you want space to explore who you are and what matters to you. You don’t need to have everything worked out before coming.

My approach is integrative, with person-centred values at its heart. This means we work together in a way that responds to you, your needs and your pace.

I bring over 30 years’ experience across community and voluntary services, including addiction, mental health and more than a decade in sexual health. My background in Women’s Studies and Cultural Anthropology also informs my awareness of how family, culture, inequality and expectations can shape our lives.

My practice is trauma-informed, LGBTQ+ affirmative, sex-positive and kink-aware. I welcome neurodivergent clients and aim to offer a space where your identity, relationships and experiences are treated with respect and curiosity.

Practice description

I offer individual counselling in South Belfast, providing a confidential, supportive space to explore whatever is troubling you.

My experience includes anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, bereavement, trauma, substance use, sexual wellbeing and questions around identity. I am comfortable discussing subjects that can feel difficult to put into words, including intimacy, sexuality, shame and relationship expectations.

Together, we can explore patterns, make sense of your experiences and consider what you would like to change. I will listen carefully, offer reflections and, where helpful, gently challenge ways of thinking that may be keeping you stuck.

Sessions last 50 minutes. We can agree a period of weekly counselling and review how it is helping as we go. I also offer single-session work if you would like to focus on a particular concern.

I welcome conversations about access needs, communication preferences and adjustments that could help you feel more comfortable.

My first session

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for how I word. You can share what has brought you to counselling, what feels difficult at the moment and anything you hope to gain.

There is no pressure to tell your whole story or discuss anything before you feel ready. If you are unsure where to begin, we can work that out together.

We will talk through confidentiality and its limits, our counselling agreement and practical arrangements, including payment and cancellations. We can also discuss any access or communication needs.

You will have space to ask questions and consider whether working with me feels right for you and If we decide to continue, we will agree our next steps together.
