About me and my therapy practice

I see supervision as a collaborative, supportive, and reflective relationship that encourages both personal and professional growth. My aim is to provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where you can openly explore your client work, celebrate your successes, and reflect on the challenges you encounter in practice.

I believe that effective supervision is built on trust, honesty, and mutual respect. Whether you are a trainee counsellor, newly qualified, or an experienced practitioner, I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs, level of experience, and professional goals.

My role is to support you in developing your confidence, clinical skills, and self-awareness while ensuring that ethical practice and the wellbeing of your clients remain at the centre of our work. Together, we will reflect on your client relationships, explore therapeutic processes, consider ethical dilemmas, and identify areas for growth and development.

I encourage curiosity and reflective practice, creating a space where you feel able to bring both your strengths and your uncertainties. Supervision is not about judgement or criticism; it is about learning, developing insight, and helping you become the best practitioner you can be.

I also recognise the emotional impact that counselling work can have. As part of our supervision, we will pay attention to your wellbeing, resilience, and self-care, helping you to maintain a healthy and sustainable practice while reducing the risk of burnout.

Our supervision sessions will be collaborative and purposeful. We will regularly review your learning and development, discuss any challenges that arise, and ensure that you feel supported in delivering safe, ethical, and effective counselling. My hope is that you leave each supervision session feeling heard, encouraged, professionally challenged, and more confident in your work with clients.

Practice description

I offer counselling supervision in a warm, supportive, and collaborative environment where you can reflect openly on your clinical work. I believe supervision should be a space where you feel safe to explore your practice honestly, celebrate your achievements, and discuss any challenges without fear of judgement.

My approach is grounded in respect, curiosity, and professional integrity. Together, we will explore your client work, therapeutic relationships, ethical considerations, professional boundaries, and your ongoing growth as a practitioner.

I work with trainee, newly qualified, and experienced counsellors, adapting my approach to your individual stage of development and professional needs. Whether you are seeking support with complex client work, developing your confidence, navigating ethical dilemmas, or deepening your reflective practice, I will provide a space where you feel heard, challenged appropriately, and supported.

Alongside supporting your clinical practice, I recognise the emotional demands of counselling. Supervision provides an opportunity to reflect on the impact of your work, develop resilience, and prioritise your wellbeing so that you can continue to practise safely, ethically, and sustainably.

The first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore whether we are a good fit to work together. We will discuss your current practice, your supervision requirements, your expectations, and what you hope to gain from supervision. This initial meeting also gives you the opportunity to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me, while allowing me to assess whether I can provide the appropriate support for your professional needs. If I feel another supervisor would be better suited to your requirements, I will discuss this with you openly and honestly.

My first session

Your first supervision session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a professional relationship based on trust, openness, and mutual respect.

During this initial session, we’ll discuss your current practice, your experience as a counsellor, your supervision requirements, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll also explore your preferred way of working, any particular areas you’d like support with, and any organisational or professional requirements that are relevant to your supervision.

This session is as much about you getting to know me as it is about me getting to know you. Choosing the right supervisor is an important decision, and I encourage you to use this time to ask questions, understand my approach, and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

We’ll also discuss practical aspects of supervision, including our supervision agreement, confidentiality, record keeping, professional and ethical responsibilities, fees, and how we will work together to support both your development and the wellbeing of your clients.

The first session also allows me to consider whether I am the right supervisor for your needs. My responsibility is to ensure that I can provide appropriate support and supervision. If I believe another supervisor would be better placed to meet your requirements, I will discuss this with you openly and help you consider the most appropriate next steps where possible.

By the end of our first session, my hope is that you leave with a clear understanding of how we can work together and feel confident that supervision will be a safe, supportive, reflective, and professionally enriching space where you can continue to grow as a counsellor.

About me and my therapy practice

I aim to provide a warm, friendly, and non-judgmental space where people feel safe to be themselves. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change, so I take the time to listen carefully, understand each person’s unique experiences, and build trust at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

My approach is collaborative. Rather than telling people what they should do, I work alongside them to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we identify their goals, understand what may be keeping them stuck, and develop practical strategies that support positive and lasting change.

I believe everyone has strengths, even if they can’t always see them themselves. Part of my role is to help people recognise these strengths, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to manage life’s challenges more effectively. I encourage self-reflection and self-compassion while gently challenging unhelpful patterns of thinking or behaviour when appropriate, always with kindness and respect.

I understand that no two people are the same, so I tailor my approach to meet each individual’s needs, preferences, and goals. Whether someone is experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, or is simply looking to improve their wellbeing, I strive to create a supportive environment where they feel heard, valued, and understood.

I also believe that therapy should leave people feeling empowered. My aim is not to provide all the answers but to help people gain insight, develop practical coping strategies, and build the confidence to make decisions that reflect their values and aspirations.

Above all, I want people to leave each session feeling listened to, supported, and hopeful that positive change is possible.

Practice description

understand that starting counselling can feel like a big step, and it’s natural to feel unsure about what to expect. My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be yourself.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do or make decisions for you, but to walk alongside you, helping you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

Every person is unique, so I tailor our sessions to your individual needs, goals, and pace. Whether you’re experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-esteem, or simply feeling stuck, we will work together to understand what’s happening and find a way forward that feels right for you.

My first session

Your first counselling session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. During this initial assessment, we’ll talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to gain from our work together, and any relevant background that will help me understand your needs.

This session is also a chance for you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Finding the right counsellor is important, and I want you to feel that you can ask questions, share any concerns, and get a sense of how I work before deciding whether to continue.

At the same time, I will assess whether I am the right person to support you. My priority is to ensure that you receive the most appropriate care. If I feel that your needs would be better met by another professional or specialist service, I will discuss this with you and, where possible, help you access the support that is most suitable.

There is no obligation to continue after the first session. The initial assessment is simply an opportunity for us both to decide whether we are a good fit to work together in a way that feels safe, supportive, and beneficial for you.
