About me and my therapy practice

I am trained as an integrative counsellor and work in a variety of different ways.

I am currently a supervisor in training and looking to expand my client base with some supervisee’s.

I am offering low cost supervision whilst I am in training either in person  or online depending on your need. As part of this process I will offer a free introductory session to discuss your practice and ways of working so I can sure we are aligned and a good fit in terms of relationship building. A contract will then be developed and agreed on between us.

I recognise the need for a supervisor and supervisee to have a connection from which they can build trust and have an open relationship where the supervisee can bring their clients and that interaction is one of collaboration and exploration together in a safe and non judgemental space. This will facilitate the client to have insight both on their work and aspects of self that may be impacting their work.

Practice description

My practice rooms are based next to Basingstoke hospital well serviced by buses as well as ample free parking. There is also wheel chair access if required.

I work with both adults and children and young people both online as in person.

I am able to offer open ended long term sessions as well as shorter term or single focussed sessions depending on need.

I am able to offer flexibility around session times and frequency recognising that the weekly traditional setting of sessions may not suit everyone.

Counsellors coming for supervison would be offered flexibility around appointment times if required.

The first session would be around contracting and exploring your practice and how we could best align our work and move forward in a collaborative relationship.

About me and my therapy practice

I am Sue and welcome to my page.

I appreciate that taking this step to seek support can be daunting and choosing a counsellor is hard so please let me start by sharing with you a little bit about me, my background, and my practice.

You may be feeling anxious, or have a low mood, angry, sad, or experiencing a loss of relationship or bereavement of a loved one. A myriad of overwhelming emotions. You may be hurting or in despair.

So, through therapy we can build together a warm relationship where you can feel safe and secure to express those feelings and emotions and not be judged or scorned. This will then empower you to explore the sense of life through thoughts, feelings and experiences and I will walk alongside you as you do so.

So about me.

I worked as a police officer for many years and am experienced in dealing with traumas and distressing situations. I understand the impact of bereavement and being the victim or accused of a crime and how that can impact on life and ability to cope. I am also available to work with members of the emergency services in dealing with trauma and work related stress.

I now work in Higher Education as a counsellor and in student support and have a good awareness of Safeguarding and Prevent concerns and management of these within an educational setting.

I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

I am qualified to work with adults and hold an additional  qualification in working with children and young people. I have also completed training in supporting clients with neuro diversities.

I have also completed additional training in:

Working with domestic abuse

Trauma

Bereavement including pet bereavement

I am a member of the BACP and work fully within their ethical framework.

I am also a qualified trainer in Mental Health First Aid with MHFA England and as well as running courses I can offer some more short-term solution focussed work on specific issues if required.

I hold a Level 3 qualification in Mental Health with RSPH.

Practice description

My practice this is set within beautiful rooms adjacent to Basingstoke Hospital. The rooms are beautifully decorated and offer a peaceful and tranquil space where confidence can be assured with free on-site parking and disabled access. The space affords me the option to offer indoor sessions as well as walk and talk therapy. All of this is completely your choice. I feel at peace here and I hope you will find peace as well.

I am an integrative counsellor meaning that I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach. I will therefore use a variety of different modalities to support you. I do focus my approach to suit your needs and can do this in a variety of ways according to what you prefer.

If you find talking about some issues a struggle, I may also use some creative tools as well to assist you in expressing and exploring your emotions. I find this particularly benefits younger clients and those who are neuro diverse where traditional therapy may be a struggle.

I hope that by building our relationship and working together you will be begin to grow and heal and embrace new ways of being and behaviours and reconnect with yourself leading to fulfilment and personal growth.

I am able to offer flexibility around session times and there is no requirement for weekly sessions. We can work together to develop the best approach.

I can also offer single sessions based on a specific need.

My first session

For the relationship to develop I feel it is important to have an introductory call to ensure we are compatible, and I am the best therapist to assist you with your specific needs. This will be around twenty minutes and not charged as it is important the match is correct.

I will e mail you my terms and conditions should you wish to proceed  so we can begin our work.

I charge £55 per session which lasts for 50 minutes and is payable prior to the session.
