About me and my therapy practice

As a Supervisor, my role extends far beyond simply overseeing the clinical work of my Supervisees. I strive to create a rich, dynamic, and supportive supervisory relationship that fosters both personal and professional development. I am deeply committed to providing supervision that is not only highly effective but also feels safe, nurturing, and empowering for those I work with. My approach is rooted in authentic understanding, mutual respect, and equality. I firmly believe that supervision is most beneficial when it is approached as a partnership, one that encourages collaboration rather than a top-down, authoritarian dynamic.

Throughout my supervisory work, I place a strong emphasis on open communication. This open dialogue helps to build trust, and it is essential for fostering the reflective practice that underpins all great therapeutic work.

I have always believed that no two therapists are the same. The work we do with clients is incredibly personal, and each therapist brings a unique set of skills, experiences, and qualities to their practice. Because of this, I draw from a wide range of theoretical frameworks and therapeutic models, working in an integrative manner.

My belief is that therapy is an evolving process that requires flexibility. Similarly, supervision must also adapt to the specific challenges and opportunities faced by each Supervisee. Drawing from a wide variety of therapeutic models allows me to meet you where you are, using tools and techniques that are most suited to your clinical development. It also means that I can offer a comprehensive supervisory experience, one that helps you navigate the complexities of real-world clinical practice with the support of multiple frameworks, each designed to offer unique insights and strategies.

I work with neuroscience and use evidence based models with new and exciting ideas on how to work within the best interest of your clients.

Practice description

I believe it is essential to approach each Supervisee as an individual with unique experiences, challenges, and goals. Your journey as a therapist is a deeply personal one, and my supervision will always reflect that. Together, we will create a space where you feel comfortable exploring the full range of your clinical work, from your most challenging cases to your moments of success.

I understand that as a therapist, you are constantly growing and evolving. Self-awareness, self-compassion, and professional development are ongoing processes, and I aim to support you every step of the way. Whether you are facing challenges in your therapeutic relationships, struggling with difficult client cases, or reflecting on your personal reactions and countertransference, my supervision will help you deepen your clinical self-awareness.

I work with both trainee therapists and experienced professionals, offering a unique supervisory approach for each group. My experience with the Northern Guild for Counselling and Psychotherapy has enriched my understanding of the challenges faced by trainees.

For trainees, I provide a nurturing and encouraging environment, helping you navigate the theoretical, practical, and emotional aspects of beginning your therapy practice.  I can offer assistance with assignments, assessments, and exams.

For more experienced therapists,  I focus more on advanced clinical supervision, guiding you through complex cases, difficult ethical dilemmas, or situations where you feel you might be "stuck." As experienced professionals, you might have the technical skills and therapeutic knowledge, but there is always room for growth—whether through exploring new therapeutic models, refining existing skills, or focusing on self-care and burnout prevention.
