-Working with unconscious processes that emerge in sessions

-highlighting helpful shifts in awareness through authentic engagement

My Approach

I have been in private practice as a Psychotherapist since 2014 and a Supervisor since 2018. I work intuitively, relationally, and compassionately, with a deep passion for exploring attachment trauma.

I believe in open, honest dialogue and creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where supervisees can grow as therapists.

I have extensive experience working with children, young people, and adults, supported by specialist training since 2013. I also hold ACTO-approved training in online work, and I can support therapists working online, in person, or in nature.

I offer supervision to individuals, groups, organisations, and mental health professionals (including safeguarding teams, teachers and mental health workers).

I also work within an SEN School environment supporting teachers, LSA's and Safeguarding to nuture an environment that offers a secure base to the pupils, and team surrounding the pupils.

About me and my therapy practice

You don’t have to go through this alone. Exploring your experiences in a safe space really can help. It helps untangle and reform your experiences into something that feels way more manageable.

I can help you reduce overwhelming thoughts and feelings, build healthier boundaries, and create more secure, satisfying relationships.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate and practical. We’ll work at a pace that feels safe and contained. I work using a person-centred approach alongside IFS parts work, somatic inquiry, and draw from other theoretical approaches such as Transactional Analysis and Polyvagal Theory.

Parts work can be very powerful as it can help you access parts of yourself initially formed to protect you, but may now be causing internal conflict, or holding you back in some way.

Alongside curious and compassionate inquiry, I can offer guided imagery, mind and body meditations, breath work, and other interventions to help you access more unreachable parts, so you can build a sense of self-compassion, self-acceptance, emotional regulation and better overall wellbeing.

Therapy can help you reduce anxiety, improve maladaptive relationship patterns, and heal past traumas.

Who I Work With

I work with adults and young people, offering an open-hearted, curious, and supportive space.

I have a special interest, and training in:

  •  Neurodivergence / Autism/ADHD - diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or curious
  •  Recovery from coercive control, abuse, or assault
  •  Bullying or discrimination
  •  Pre- and post-natal anxiety or depression
  •  Traumatic birth or baby loss
  •  Parenting challenges
  •  Accident or shock trauma
  •  Grief and Complex grief (including suicide)
  •  Vicarious trauma (for those in caring professions)

Testimonial

"I have seen my progress with regards to anxiety over the time I have worked with Alison. I no longer feel crippled or held back by my mental health. I feel more confident in myself, and more able to give myself support and compassion. There is still work to do, but Alison provided a much needed outlet to make sense of everything that was going on internally."

How I work:

I provide attachment and trauma informed Psychotherapy and use parts work (IFS) to help understand elements of self.

I'm curious, compassionate and relational in my approach. Together we can explore your experiences which can provide insight and understanding,  alongside offering tools which help with resilience and reducing distressing symptoms.

If you suffer with PTSD and/flashbacks connected to traumatic events, I offer something called REWIND technique, and guided imagery which can significantly reduce intrusive thoughts/images/memories.

It takes courage to ask for support and I will do all I can to make your experience comfortable and beneficial.

You are in the right place if you would like to:

  • have a safe and accepting place to share your story and experience
  • have more clarity
  • feel more confident
  • be more comfortable in your relationships
  • achieve your personal goals
  • move on from difficult experiences or trauma

My promise to you:-

  • I will accept you and your experiences unconditionally and without judgement.
  • I will be genuine, honest and transparent in the hope that you feel comfortable sharing your experience.
  • I will listen deeply to you, so you know that I hear your experience.

Most of us experience psychological distress as some point in our lives, and I would like to help alleviate this.

With the nurturing and therapeutic space that I provide, we can work together through any issues to reach a more manageable place for you.
