About me and my therapy practice

I work with supervisees in a reflective capacity, helping to understand and nurture yourself and the client.

Do you feel stuck with clients or are not sure of the way transference works?

Do you wish to understand complementary transactions that are clues to your attunement with the client?

Do you wish to learn the art of using metaphors and imaginings to help the client move forward more subtly?

Supervision

I work from the seven-eyed model of supervision (Peter Hawkins and Aisling McMahon)

That focuses on:

1. The client: who they are and what their issue is, what they chose to share, which area of their life they wanted to explore, and how this session's content might relate to content from previous sessions.

2. The strategies and interventions of the supervisee with the client, using metaphors and images

3. The relationship between the client and the supervisee; how the supervisee's history affects the therapeutic relationship.

4. The supervisee, the transference and countertransference that could affect the therapy they provide.

5. The supervisory relationship: the parallel process that may play out during supervision.

6. The supervisor focuses on their own process and how their work with the supervisee affects the supervision relationship.

7. Focus on the wider context: professional codes of ethics, the context the supervisee works from, the relationship with other agencies or other supervisors, social, cultural, and political beliefs, and economic context.

Peer supervison consists of one client per supervisee to allow for input from peers ( this does not replace reguler supervision -however can be counted towards hours ) Peer supervision  can be used as an ad hoc way to make hours up and also consistant attendance to gain support when embarking out as a new therapist.

My first session

What happens in the first session?

There is some paperwork, such as an intake form,  I usually send this via email and discuss it during our first session.

Payment is typically required 24 hours before the session, and banking details are provided once a session is confirmed.

I am interested in what has brought you to therapy. I encourage you to discuss how things are working or not working in your life and what you expect to gain from treatment. I'd like to understand your needs and explore how we can work together.

Meeting online or by phone? How to prepare: find a confidential space for 50 minutes, grab a cup of tea or water, and some tissues. Therapy can bring tears and laughter; you want to be comfortable.

I provide a confidential environment for face-to-face, online, or phone therapy.
