About me and my therapy practice
I am an accredited Counsellor and Supervisor with the NCPS (National Counselling Psychotherapy Society), and a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy).
I have been practicing clinical counselling at Relate since 2010 with a focus on Individuals, Couples, Young People and Families. Counselling has been part of my profession prior to my formal training, having worked in the NHS for over 30 years before joining Relate. I also volunteered as a bereavement supporter for Cruse Bereavement Care. My positive experiences with various supervisors of my own, led me to train as a supervisor myself so I can give back and help other counsellors.
My supervision approach, like my own counselling, is built on the foundation of the Person-Centred Approach. Each supervisee/client is uniquely individual. Over the years I have adopted aspects of various other modalities, depending on the needs and requirements that present with the uniqueness of the person. I embrace working across modalities to gain differing theoretical understandings. I take a wider holistic approach in my supervisory space to create a reflective practice for my supervisees.
Practice description
I am an integrative counsellor with a particular focus on interpersonal and relational approaches to counselling due to my MA in Relationship Counselling.
I provide a supportive forum that builds on the training, skills and experience of the supervisee and aligns development to their personal and professional goals.
I aim to bring an attitude of curiosity, understanding, acceptance, patience, respect, and empathy. My aim is to grow you as a therapist and be the best you can be for your client.
My first session
Our first supervision meeting is an hour long where we can explore your expectations and requirements and determine whether we will be a good fit. At that meeting we will agree the frequency, timing and basis for the supervisory contract going forward.

Prior to becoming a Counsellor, I worked as a medical professional for 30 years so I have experience and a natural interest in all areas of wellbeing and mental health.
Practice description
I work in a relational integrative way. My sessions are a collaborative interaction and I draw upon various counselling approaches to best suit what works for you and your situation.
In our sessions, I help you build awareness of the ways of thinking and the patterns of behaviour that no longer serve you. We work together to unpack the contributing factors and influences in life that might be keeping you stuck, distressed or unhappy. Equipped with the knowledge of these, we can develop healthier strategies, tools and techniques to overcome challenges and improve your wellbeing.
