Availability
Hi, I currently have availability for supervision, for qualified professionals or trainees. I work flexibly throughout the week Monday to Friday. Daytime hours on Wednesday to Friday and some evenings available.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a passionate and committed person centred supervisor, working with trainee and qualified counsellors providing high quality supervision within the guidelines of BACP ethics and standards. I also provide non managerial supervision to other workers, including social work, family and child support, health care and medical backgrounds. Supervision enables quality standardisation of counselling work in line with ethical standards. It offers counsellors and trainee counsellors support and guidance to work with clients and discuss their working practices without judgement, providing space for discussion and growth. I provide a professional, safe and confidential space in which you can discuss any areas of your working practice. This also includes potential personal issues that may impact on your practice. I also work as an IEMT, NLP and Old Pain to Go practitioner. I have previously taught counselling studies for many years and I am able to support you with any areas of your training and education. I work from home providing a comfortable, safe and quiet environment.
Practice description
I have worked as a person-centred practitioner, since 2012 using, talking therapies, IEMT, NLP and Old Pain To Go as well as a clinical supervisor for trainee and qualified counsellors. I have worked as a supervisor since 2017 and I provide non managerial supervision for professionals and health care professionals . I work face to face and online as required. A free initial consultation with myself is offered, to discuss both the requirements of the supervisee and the supervision that I offer. I encourage the Autonomy of the supervisee by discussing their expectations and how they would like to work. I introduce my contract and thoroughly discuss ethical/professional expectations. I also require information regarding the supervisees training provider and tutors at university so that I can communicate when required.
I use the Hawkins and Shohet, 7 eyed model of supervision which I feel works well with the Person-Centred counselling model.
I Support the supervisee with issues and challenges they may face personally or professionally, with clients and within their counselling training. I fully support you with personal issues and will recommend or refer to personal therapy if this goes beyond the role of supervision. However, I feel that it is important that I am aware of the supervisees personal and emotional state to assess where they are with client work, ensuring safety of the client and personal wellbeing of the supervisee.
Educational support is given, encouraging the development of the supervisee and affirming the importance of ongoing training and CPD.
Reflection of their experiences of training and placement is also important and allows the supervisee to be aware of their own strengths, limitations and weaknesses or areas for development. Managerial/Qualitative supervision allows quality control of working standards, linking to the BACP, Education and placement procedures and protocols, ensuring clarity of the expectation and role of the supervisee in practice.
My first session
Once initial contact is made by yourself, I will make contact by phone call and arrange a free initial consultation. This consultation will be a chance to make introductions and discuss your background, training and availability for supervision. We will also discuss how I work and your expectations of supervision. I will also introduce my contract so that you may make an informed choice going forward.
