About me and my therapy practice
I have a PgDip in Counselling Children in Schools from Place2Be and The University of East London. My training was integrative and gave me a strong foundation in working with play/creativity, psychodynamics and person centred practice. My Masters dissertation explored the long term impact of school counselling. For this I interviewed adults who had counselling back when they were in school. I have taken further trainings in Violet Oaklander Technique (applying Gestalt therapy to CYP work), trauma focused CBT, CATT(Children's Accelerated Trauma Technique), and a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism.
Since qualifying in 2013, I have worked in many different charities, schools(including primary, secondary, mainstream and boarding schools), PRUs, and private practice. I am based in Bristol and since 2022 work for The Green House, a charity supporting families affected by sexual abuse.
I have 6 years experience as a counselling trainer, supporting students through levels 2, 3, 5 and PgDip. Working on adult and CYP focused courses. I still sometimes work as a trainer and deliver workshops and assessments.
My supervision qualification is from the Connexus Institute and I have worked as a supervisor since 2018. My main work is supporting CYP therapists, but I also support those working with adult clients. My supervisees work in a wide range of settings across the country. I have experience supporting therapists from the newly qualified to the very experienced, working within organisations and schools, to setting up and developing private practice.
Practice description
I will use my skills, knowledge and experience as a therapist, supervisor and counselling trainer to help you develop as a therapist. I work from an integrative model which draws from many approaches including; person centred, psychodynamic, gestalt and trauma focused CBT. Common topics for supervision are; clinical issues, safeguarding, theory, working with difference, spirituality, self-care, and career development.
Although the focus of supervision is clinical work, at times personal issues may arise that need attention. I see this as a natural and helpful aspect of supervision that supports clinical work. I will think with you about seeking extra support if this is necessary to maintain the standards of your work at any time.
I mainly work online, but if you are local to Bristol we can meet in a wheelchair accessible space for a small extra cost.
As an accredited member of the BACP I follow their ethical framework. This underpins all my work and I will support you in using this framework to monitor the standards and ethics of your own practice.
I am registered with the ICO as part of my commitment to GDPR.
