About me and my therapy practice

Hi my name is Kate and I have been working as a person centred counsellor and dynamic interpersonal therapist with children young people and adults since 2013. This has been in private practice and in a variety of settings, which include schools, community and specialist services, on a one to one or group basis.

As I have worked in a lead role for services in Brighton and Hove, I have a very good understanding of other support services and can support with questions regarding pathways for diagnosis such as Autism and ADHD.

I currently work from a quite setting which has an indoor and outdoor therapy space and free parking.

I currently offer short, medium and long term support face to face or online during the day time, evening and weekend.

Please feel free to give me a call/ send me an email to find out more about the support I can offer you.

Practice description

I describe therapy to my clients as a reflective space to explore what is currently feeling difficult. I believe that therapy gives us the space to gain understanding of what is happening in our life, this understanding helps us to make choice and change, which in turn can help us to move forward.

I understand that attending therapy or anything new for the first time can be difficult, I am very happy to answer any questions about this and offer adaptions to support you to attend.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute appointment, usually over the phone to give you the opportunity to find out more about what I can offer and for you to share the support you are looking for.

If you agree to go ahead after this session, our first session together will include an assessment, this means that we will talk in more detail about what support you are looking for, what has been helpful/un helpful in the past, if you have ideas/goals you would like to achieve by attending and why you have chosen to seek support now.  We will also talk through other personal details such as your contact details, relationships and support with others and mental health history. This will be at your pace and when you are ready.

If you are under 13 first appointments take place with a trusted adult, usually a parent/carer or family member.
