About me and my therapy practice
Based in Bordon but covering areas from Guildford, Farnham, Liphook and Petersfield, my aim is to work with you to talk through your difficulties and issues to help you to seek and find a way to get a solution to your problems.
Through providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space, this will allow you to trust and talk about your issues and concerns. My aim is to "be with you" throughout these difficult times and to also have the skills and expertise to enable you to find the parts of yourself that you need to recover or find a solution in your life. .
Counselling is provided in a confidential environment and will work at your own pace and at a time convenient for you. Counselling can be seen to be a journey to be embarked on "together." I (as the counsellor) will act as the mirror to enable you to explore and look at yourself and thus enable you to create the changes you desire.
I am trained in the 5 relational model. This incorporates the Psychodynamic relationship which looks at the unconscious and patterns that stem and re-emerge from the past, It is also based on the Reparative relationship which allows you to receive a repairing relationship. I also work in the ‘here and now’ relationship in the room and also with the working alliance relationship. Finally the transpersonal relationship can also be drawn upon.
I believe change can take place once the cause of pain and difficulty is sourced and given the right conditions strength can be found within yourself to move forward with your life. The counselling relationship is a relationship that is created and formed together to work through, however you are the focus of that relationship.
I have worked within the civil service for 20 years and have been used to supporting the public with difficulties in their lives and helping them to move forward with their lives.

About me and my therapy practice
I aim to make supervision with my supervisees an enriching and stimulating experience, where knowledge and understanding are shared in a collaborative manner.
I aim to offer a supportive and safe environment, be open and honest in an encouraging way and be proactive in providing insight. My priority is to be completely non-judgemental so any issue can be talked about openly by my supervisee.
My theoretical approach to supervision is guided by the framework of Hawkins and Shohet's seven eyed model, a reflective and relational approach, workable with any counselling or psychoanalytical modality. So I am looking at the relationship between my supervisee and client, the supervisee and myself for parallel process. I look at the dynamics between the three of us and if there are any rescuer / victim / perpetrator dynamics. I also extend my view outwards to look at client's relationship with other adults and any organisations involved.
With my supervisee I consider whether they need further support in a session or whether they would prefer challenge. At times, after a difficult session with a client, a supervisee may prefer further support. With a difficult client, I am available for contact.
At present I supervise therapists in the local area and outside the area online.
I am currently involved with an organisation supporting neuro-diverse children (those with Autism and ADHD) and am aiming to support these clients and their families. I am also aiming to support adults with ADHD and Autistic traits. I am also in the process of developing a counselling charity in my local area to support access to counselling for families with lower incomes. My background for the last 20 years has been within the prison service so I am familiar with any issue with the law and criminality.
Supervision is available at a cost of £45 per hour with some concessions to students.
Practice description
I was originally trained in the 5 - Modality Model (Petruska Clarkson). The foundation for this model is that at any one of the following relationships is in place: working alliance, reparative, person to person, psychodynamic or transpersonal. The model allows flexibility in relationship so other concepts or ideas can be drawn upon such as transactional analysis, CBT, polyvagal theory or creative play for example.
