About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Senior Accredited Counsellor, using an integrative and relational approach responding to the individual needs of each client drawing on her experience as a Sensorimotor Psychotherapist using psycho-education and somatic & body based experiencing with Trauma and Developmental Trauma, Domestic Violence & Abuse, Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence, having worked extensively in this arena for just short of 30 years. I also draws on Transpersonal and Inter-Cultural approaches, Attachment and Cognitive Analytic Theory. I offer counselling and psychotherapy to both individuals and couples and have experience working with adults, adolescents & children as well as clinical supervision to other therapists.
Practice description
An initial consultation gives you the opportunity to speak with me and talk through the issues or problems that you wish to deal with.
I can then discuss with you the approaches that she uses and how they might be useful to you.
I very much see counselling as enabling you to discuss problems or difficult feelings, supporting you to explore your thoughts and feelings in more depth than you might usually, providing an opportunity to develop your own inner resources and enable you to reach your full potential, facilitating you to help yourself.
Psychotherapy is more suited to addressing issues and problems that have built up over a long period of time.
It offers a deeper exploration of ongoing emotional and psychological problems and difficulties where your usual pattern of response is no longer working for you.
Psychotherapy supports you to develop greater self-understanding and self-awareness, exploring the potential for personal growth, integration and self-acceptance, all of which may take longer to resolve.
My first session
I offer both face to face and online therapy sessions. Your session would be for 50 minutes.
Face to face sessions are based at practice in Pebmarsh, Essex.
Online sessions are provided using the platform Zoom.
I will ideally take some personal information as well as contact details which are all held confidentially.
I will also share a Counsellor/Client Agreement with you to review before signing together.
I will encourage clients to start where they feel most comfortable or with what is most pressing, with the belief that wherever clients start, they will get to where they need to in the session.
