About me and my therapy practice
I am a Counsellor and Occupational Therapist with over 30 years’ clinical experience.
I specialise in working with people who have experienced acquired brain injury, physical injury, pain, trauma and significant life changes. I'm also passionate about supporting family members and carers, who often carry a heavy emotional load that can go unrecognised.
I offer a warm, thoughtful and collaborative space for adults who are adjusting to the impact of brain injury, physical injury and trauma. I understand that recovery is not just medical – it can affect identity, relationships, confidence, memory, mood and sense of self. Therapy can provide a place to gently explore these changes and find steadiness again.
At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship. I believe healing happens when you feel safe, heard and respected. I work alongside you at your pace, recognising both the visible and invisible effects of injury and trauma.
Practice description
Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly when you are already managing the practical and emotional impact of injury or trauma. We begin gently. Our early sessions focus on understanding your story, what feels most pressing, and what you would like to be different. There is no pressure and no fixed agenda — we work at your pace.
I support people living with anxiety, low mood, trauma responses, loss of identity, grief for previous abilities, and changes in relationships or independence. I understand how brain injury and physical trauma can affect concentration, memory, energy and emotional regulation, and we adapt the work to respect these realities.
My approach has a strong relational foundation and integrates EMDR, Internal Family Systems and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Some sessions may focus on processing trauma; others may centre on adjustment, resilience or practical strategies for daily life. Together, we find a way of working that supports both emotional healing and meaningful participation in life.
I hold additional certification in EMDR, IFS, CBT, Couple Counselling and Mindfulness, and I'm committed to ongoing professional development to ensure I offer you the best possible support.
